VAFC/ MISSING LINK

what are all the issues with using a missing link with a vafc? I hear so much negative about it, but some people said they use this method to run more boost. so give some facts on this

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

the VAFC needs to see the MAP signal so it can scale it down and then send the signal to the ecu.

if you plan on running enough boost that you need to bleed it from the MAP because it's physical limits will be met then you really should invest in some real engine mgmt. I mean, come on, $2g for your built engine and $50.00 for a missing link?

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

the thing is my bank is to the limit, all I'm saying is there has to be a way to get away with running more boost, than spending all that money on a standalone, if I know the vafc could not do this I would have get better from the start, everyone gave the impression the afc hach was the ----, but now its not good enough, like most people I started out on this site with no knowledge on management, I'm a mechanic I can do almost anything mechanical but management I need help, and I getting too many mixed opinions, at honda-tech they said it works, afc hack missing link fmu, I just need a way to trick the map sensor that is compatible with the vafc, anyone with experience, please some insights.

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

I dont have a personal experience but Ill give you my $0.2

It seems like the afc would have a hard time getting the correct signal from the map in order to scale it down if the missing link is altering the signal as well by releasing manifold pressure in order not to throw a CEL.

But I would like to see if it phisicaly works too.

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

I was wondering on this issue also. Running an afc/vafc takes care of the fuel management. Would the ecu still throw a code with this or would you need a missing link. And wouldnt the missing link mess then with the afc/vafc?

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

me personally I think it will work, cause most people only said it wont work because they use think about the concepts, but I dont think any of the people that objected to it actually tried it, its like the blockguard issue one person add problems, and everyone thinks its a total no go, I spoke to a few guys at honda-tech that said it works with afc and missing link, for more fuel just add fmu.

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

you are gonna uck up up engine big time if you do that. with the VAFC you should be able to scale the map without throwing a CEL. if you smack a missing link ontop of that will super ---- engine because the missing link will just limit your map voltage, this means at your ecu will not see higher boost, meaning it will run the same fuel maps above the map voltage limit. there is absolutely no way at all for an AFC and a stock bar sensor to adjust for fuel about 12 psi, no way.

this actually make more sense, cause did not gave the reason why you cant use an afc with a missing, I understand about this a little more after annoying everyone on this subject, what I'm thinking about doing now is to get a 3 bar map sensor and, put the vafc close to its limit, then later upgrade to a better management, anyway whats the limits of the vafc hack with 255lph, 450cc's, fpr, 3 bar, when will it wont be able to supply enough fuel? 20 psi is too expensive.

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

hey man u might be able to use check valves on the map sensor so it can see more boost. that is the idea I am thinking of. if you bleed half the boost to the map sensor then you could see 2 bar.

Re:VAFC/ MISSING LINK

missing link are the same concept but better design than check valves, so I think its gonna have the same results.
