VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
I was going to get a VAFC to control fuel for my Toyota Celica (trubo).
Originally I was going to use an FMU but thought that since I was able tyo get a good deal on the VAFC it would probably work better. I know its normally used to control VTEC engagment but will I be able to use it in some way for my obviously non-vtec Celica? |
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Yes, you just don't hook up the 2 wires for vtec. Make sure to get bigger injectors too since you aren't going to use an FMU now.

Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Would it be possible to use an FMU and the VAFC together, as the ultimate dream team.
For this application is the VAFC going to be a superior system to the FMU? Any recomendation for the injectors? |
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
people used to use them together, it blows ass. VAFC > FMU. As for injectors, bigger ones.

Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Just get larger injectors, depending on how much HP you want to make. Keep the fmu out of the equation.

Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Dumb question...does a celica run a map sensor or a maf sensor? I have yet to see a vafc that will work on a maf or kharmann setup.

When you run a AFC on a MAP system, it is a total "hack" which rescales the signal going to the ECU. |
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Well right now its just going to be IF I get the VAFC. I paid the guy but havent heard anything from him in 2 days.
---- EDIT : Im not sure which one it has.. I seem to think its a MAP |
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
well ive got the same question. ive got a vafc layin around and was hoping i could use it in my yaris, which has the 1sz-fe engine. it uses a maf. so will it work with the maf? my real q is that, what number would i have to use at the sensor 'in' and 'out' section? and what would the throttle signal be set to?

Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Yaris = 1NZ-FE
You should be able to get a ECU wiring pinout from the dealer or online somwhere. |
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
oh my bad. i meant echo. i live in asia and its called vitz here. was told its the same as yaris and echo. well anyways. it has the 1sz-fe. ive got the pinout after so much searching. just wanted to know, what should the sensor numbers be set at on the vafc? also what should the throttle signal be set at?
|
Re: VAFC to control fuel on a non Honda?
Throttle signal can be figured out by using the "sensor check" feature. If you set the arrow to pointing up and hit the throttle and see it go from 0-100, then you set it right. If it's backwards it'll say 100-0 when you hit the throttle. I'm not sure what sensor number you should set it to, I know honda's are 6 in and 6 out, good base to start from I guess.
