Using AFC hack with chipped ecu - recommended???
 

I am currently running a chromed chipped ecu and wonder if installing a vafc would be harmful? I've searched but have yet to fine a definitive answer.

I know all the hate that the afc hacks have had. If the vacf is hooked up, all I'll be using it for is minor fuel adjustments and simple data log. I am running dsm 450s and if my fuel adjustments are set to 0 across the board, will I still suffer from timing advance from the vafc? Also, with the vafc adjusting the map sensor signal, will this hinder what my chipped ecu is program to do? Any helpful information would be much appreciated.

If you keep your correction at 0, the VAFC won't do anything and thus there will be no timing problem.

You say you want it to make minor adjustments and datalogging? Make minor adjustments through your ECU, that's why you have a chipped one. What the hell are you going to datalog with an afc? Your peak boost for a run? To datalog correctly you need AFR, RPM, and vac/boost at the very least.

The only thing an afc is good for on a car with a chipped ecu is its gauges.

if you try to fine tune with the vafc while running a chipped ecu you will chopping farting crap running car. say you have your ecu retarding the timming 1 degree for every pound of boost. but you have the vafc turned to -20 some where in the rpm band you ecu will not get the signal to retard the timing becouse the afc minimized the signal.

i was just like you at one point in time but then i "converted" your best bet is to just sit down with crome and not move till you get it figured out that is what i had to do :y took about three days.
