Uber--->crome?
Ok guys i got a chipped ECU running Uber but for some reason it doesnt like me that much, cant open my bin and it throws some kind of error all the time. So i read xenocron's write up on crome and decided to give it a try. i opened the my basemap with crome and it worked ;D. But i dont really understand this: can i just change the rom's with crome(its a free kind) and burn them to a chip to run my ECU( even thoug it was chipped with uber.)??? Can someone please explain this to me. I just spend like 4 hours reading on this forum and pgmfi.org and just want to make it clear. Install is tommorow :y

Re: Uber--->crome?
A chipped ecu is a chipped ECU. I'm trying to switch to Crome and the only difference is cutting J12 on the ECU to datalog. I might've had to tweak my datalogging cable as well, but the actual chipping and burning is the same.

Re: Uber--->crome?
Cool, so i doesn't matter as long as it's chipped. I also thought u can datalog only w/crome pro. I'm gonna be using a zeitronix o2, it has a good datalogin software so i'll just use that to datalog and use crome to edit. thanks for clearing that up. And do i have to make another basemap w/crome or can i just use uberdata one and finetune w/crome? thanks.

Re: Uber--->crome?
You need Crome Pro if you want to datalog with Crome.
Otherwise, you can do it with another program and do it all for free, but it will probably take a ton more time. If you put a value or cost on your time, the cost pays for itself. |
Re: Uber--->crome?
i have a doubt, propably i buy a P28 chipped (by xenocron) this next month with base map, ok, if i want to modify the ECU, i have to install a uberdata on ECU? or how? oe can to use uber or crome or other program for to modify the ECU? .

Re: Uber--->crome?
The ecu just accepts a chip.
You can use Uberdata or Crome Pro (software) to datalog and make changes to your basemap (typically .bin file). You also need a ROM burner to take that bin file and copy it to a chip. Insert chip into ECU and driiiiiiiiiiive. Make changes to the bin file, copy to the same chip (or a new chip), insert chip into ECU and driiiiiiiiive. Read the Fuel Management FAQ. ;) |
Re: Uber--->crome?
ok , i'll try read it.. my english is low..

Re: Uber--->crome?
make a fresh basemap in crome, don't try to re-use your uber basemap.
uberdata and crome bins that use boost are based on different roms |
Re: Uber--->crome?
yeah my uber basemap ran like ----, so i just downloaded Crome .BIN of xenocron's site runs much better,had to modify it a little for my setup and now A/F is 11.5-11.8 in full boost.

Re: Uber--->crome?
Walter I have everything you need to do self tuning...when you pick up the ECU you should pick up anything else you need at the same time (because of shipping).
A BASIC, DIY setup for tuning your own ECU would consist of: - Chipped ECU - Datalogging cable (serial or USB connection type) - Chip Burner and Chips - A Wideband You can use CROME FREE, and then datalog pretty effectively with FreeLog (find at PGMFI.ORG) to get the hang of tuning. But Crome Pro is worth the $149...

Re: Uber--->crome?
There are varying datalogging protocols to use yes...but if you want to use the code that enables the fastest (full duplex) you need to cut J12. I think you can use other protocols in Freelog sure...and they minght work without cutting J12 (aka, what Uberdata uses).
