TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
I just finished reading the Engine Mangement FAQ and Ive searched all day now and cannot find any information that is written in common english for the beginner with no previous knowledge of how to knowledgeably run TE safely and RIGHT
Im basically just about to start my car and get it running and then tune it. Its an OBDO Crx with a D16a6. Im buying a chipped ecu that zenocron chipped with a basemap for my motor with a 1bar map sensor. All the info i could find was just on making that basemap and it was still very difficult to understand. The info guides and walkthroughs im looking for are about after you get the car started. If there are codes what they mean and how you figure them out and what will need to be changed in your program. The instruments I have are -laptop, dell something pIII with cd rom and usb port, should handle everything good -wideband digital display sensor (will this work with turboedit and some sort of datalogging?). Im assuming I need some ---- to do datalogging -Moates Burn1 chip burner bought from Moates.net -Do I need many spare chips? We need information on like our first drive, we go around the block and wtf do we do? What am I supposed to watch on my pc if anything at all or do I do that after I go through soem gears? Just 1 gear at a time tuning?, I have to do this all alone 100% Idle, Partial Throttle Tuning, Wide Open We need to know how to play with things and the little tricks to make everything easier and safer, things to help make the best adjustments and calculations possible. My basemap comes with a 1bar map setting, I need to install a 3bar, what do I have to change? Everything? DO I do this after ive started and finished all my fuel and ignition settings? I dont know when I have pushed my engine to far, this is my first boosted car, I dont know wtf the wastegate is gonnaa sound like or a compressor surge or pinging. What did I do wrong? I really dont know what to ask because I dont have the car running but I dont want to learn this when the cars running and just has to sit there. While I was searching, turboedit seems to be the least followed and used of the rom editors and has the least technical backing and 500+ people making threads like these daily, TurboEF8 or xenocron or someone that knows what they are talking about should make a walkthrough, a complete guide. I guarantee people will donate money. make people pay for it if you ------- want. I'll donate money asap right away. I AM WILLING TO PAY SOMEONE FOR A BEAUTIFULLY DETAILED WRITE UP. MAKE IT FOR EVERYONE, EXPLAIN MOST OR ALL OF THE THINGS IVE TALKED ABOUT IN GOOD DETAIL AND I WILL PAYPAL YOU $50 |

Well...I have made some write-ups in the past, and even though things are being updated, you should be able to make sense of them.
http://www.-------------/te.php?page=te_cover As far as an official write-up, it will never happen, for two reasons. TE is not a commerical product, so there is no commerical support of backing. A write-up of the caliber you are looking for isnt even done by commericial products like Hondata. Second reason is that everything changes, way too frequently to be able to keep a document or process for a particular software like that current. The best thing you can do is your own general research and be able to apply it broadly to a wide variety of engine management solutions. There are certianly lots of threads on here and other sites. If you are looking for a complete tuning how to as well...look into something llike EFI101, which of course you will be paying upwards of $500+ for an education like that... |

Did you read it, I mean really read it. There is more detail to the "geting started" write up than you will find anyplace else. I figured most of it out myself by just playing around with the program. Its not that hard. Give it a try, make small changes and see what happens. You will get it. ;) |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
I read all I could, I just dont really understand like when i do certain things, like scale down injecotrs or if i change a number what it is going to do
I dont know what Im changing Also the mmhg/boost/vacuum thing is very vauge to me Can anyone explain this? |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
The maps you are changing are called "VE" tables or Volumetric Efficiency tables.
Do a search on Volumetric Efficiency...also know as Physics 2 and 3 in college :1 |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
step 1: pay tuner to chip and make basemap for ecu
step 2: drive lightly to meet with tuner step 3: pay tuner to tune car www.------------- for tuning needs and hot lesbian porn now you owe me money nigga. |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
lol, so there is no actual write up and you think it would be to hard to make one for some money?
I would like to do the tune myself, just because Im like that |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
To learn you need to start reading and reading and reading. All the info you need is there. It took me a while to get everything figured out but eventually it started to make sense. Also you can hit up Amazon and they have some basic books on engine management theory that while they are not specififc to Turbo edit etc they will help with the basic theory behind it.Good luck.

Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE
I think the key is beeing patient enough to learn by researching and reading the info out there (especially on pgmfi.og) . Trial and errors might be another learning curve, which can be really dangerious if you didn't do your homework. One thing I found out is "nobody is going to spoon feed you". Start by playing with TE, and do yourself a favor by getting a wideband.

This pretty much explained everything to me this coming from a guy who, several years ago, didn't know how to work a torque wrench. Good luck finding out what you need. |
Re: TurboEdit Tuning - EVERYTHING - From Start Up To Finished Street Tune *MAKE $$$*
You wanna know the truth of how you learn to tune. You blow ---- up. Wanna become a good tuner doesnt happen overnight. Take hundreds-thousands of hours of work to get to the point where you can tune and make power safely. I understand hmt is about doin it yourself but there are some things that arent meant for everyone. Hence why tuners charge100+ per hour its called a skill that most people cant achieve. This goes for fabrication, engine building, porting, etc. If it was that easy everyone would do it. I have been building/racing hondas for over 8 years and its my life and how I make income and to be honest I still dont half of what is needed to know so yes pay Chris or another tuner if you want your ---- to run to work and not cry about how turbo hondas blow up.

The link "Mindless" posted does help out alot. You should get a general idea of how it works. I think it is writen pretty good for people who don't know how to tune an engine.
Xenocron: can you fix the link in "Tips for tuning fuel maps on your OBD0 Honda / Acura using TurboEdit" that Mindless posted at the bottem ("timing write-up")? this is coming from someone who hasn't had any experience in tuning (yet) and is a beginner like yourself Turblow. |
