turboedit

Is anybody here running turbo edit with a b16a and turbo?
I've got my kit on now with the fmu and everybodys yelling turboedit, turboedit, well i think im ready to give it a try, when i researched it last there wasnt a real solution for using a b16a so i think if i could find somebody who is running it on a b16a that would make life alot easier.

So if your using a b16aT with turboedit please email me, brandonroloff@gmail.com or aim- tollwayracer

Im currently using a zdyne 1 wire, and im aware that i will need to pick up a chipped ecu, what ecu do i need and who is selling one already chipped?

Thanks,
Brandon

Re:turboedit

if you have zdyne, you don't need turbo edit, just get the zdyne tuned, and what is your question? te does have roms for the b16 last time i checked :P

Re:turboedit

its a zdyne 1 wire, not a zdyne gold.

my question is i need to find somebody with a b16a turbo who is sucesfully running turbo edit, so that i can get advice and such from that person.

i had an ephiphony of sorts, if there was a way for me to get the .bin file off the zdyne chip i have now, would i be able to edit it in the program that zdyne uses for editing chips?

all you need to do is make a basemap using the pr3 rom and tune accordingly, same steps you would for any other engine. the hard part is going to be finding a pr3 ecu :P

slowpoke 10-28-2004 10:20 AM

Re:turboedit

when i looked at some of the pr3 bins they only went up to 7400 rpm, what do i do about the other 600 rpm's

projekteg 10-28-2004 10:23 AM

Re:turboedit

the last 600 rpm's will run the same as the last row if i'm not mistaken, it will be fine though, if anything, just add a little extra fuel to the last row. uberdata use to be the same way, and it ran fine on my b16.

slowpoke 10-28-2004 10:25 AM

Re:turboedit

k, ive downloaded the bin, so your saying all i need now is a pr3, chip burner, and im assuming a wideband.

Will this control vtec etc? also what injectors should i get? b16a w/ sc34 at 5psi, i have no intentions of upping boost.

yeah, if it has a hi and lo fuel and ign. table, it's for vtec, and teh pr3 is a vtec ecu, but they're jdm ecu's and very hard to find, there were no usdm obd0 vtec ecu's. but other than that, yes, you're correct. you could prolly sell teh zdyne to cut some of your losses.

slowpoke 10-28-2004 10:30 AM

Re:turboedit

yeah, i use to have a pr3 but i sold it when i got my zdyne!

Re:turboedit

reading this thread helped a little
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=28383

should i just use a pm6 map and go crazy with it an use a rpm switch for vtec?

Chris Harris 10-28-2004 11:38 AM

Re:turboedit

There are no PR3 BOOST maps that will work in TurboEdit.

Closest thing they have now is using the PM6 Stable BIN and using a PS9 ECU or a VTEC switch in combo with a PM6 ECU to activate VTEC.

I do not believe it is working 100% yet though.

Re:turboedit

see thats what i thought, im tired of people giving me ---- over running an fmu and not turbo edit when supposedly nobody has succesfully done it yet.

I dont mind being a pioneer but i have no idea about this ----, and im on a serious budget.

projekteg 10-28-2004 11:56 AM

Re:turboedit

damn, i wasn't aware that the pr3 rom didn't support boost :P

Go to Honda-Tech and get a better job then... >:(

There are still ways to do it, with TurboEdit (or Uberdata)

Anyone on a budget, shouldnt have boost. It should be federal law.

Re:turboedit

lol, i have the money in case of emergency, but i really want something simple until after my wedding then i can spend more on engine management and stuff like that.

why would you tell me to goto honda-tech?

Nobody on honda-tech knows ---- about turbo edit,

Re:turboedit

I said that because many H-Ters think they are pioneers but most of them dont know ----...

Re:turboedit

if i got the ecu from the auto 4 door and sent it to you to chip, you thnk u could help me setup a base map that would run somewhat rich with some larger injectors so that i can ditch the fmu?

Chris Harris 10-30-2004 11:23 PM

Re:turboedit

Which ECU...auto PR4? I have heard that the auto PR4's require more than the basic OBD0 chipping.

I have a manual PR4 here with me and (3) PM6's...could I tempt you with one of them? ;D

slowpoke 10-31-2004 10:55 AM

Re:turboedit

i thought the auto was a ps9

You mean having rich parents with loose pockets doesn't make you a pioneer? ???

I've been going about this all wrong. :-[

Yes...the PS9 is an auto ECU. For some reason I thought you were talking PR4.

PS9 is chipped just like the standard OBD0 ECUs

Re:turboedit

Read up some more !!...
If you did your research you would know that if you have a vtec engine to better go OBD1 and use Uberdata.
Turboedit is better suited for OBD0 non vtec

slowpoke 11-01-2004 02:36 PM

Re:turboedit

for the price of upgrading to obd1 and using uberdata i could probalby find a zdyne unit :(

soo its possibe to use the ps9 ecu with a pm6 bin, i wish i could find somebody who is currently using it, so i can learn from them.

It doesnt cost $900 to convert up to Obd1.

By the time you sell off your OBD0 stuff and get OBD1 stuff...the only thing you really have to pay for is the conversion harness (~$75)

slowpoke 11-01-2004 05:38 PM

Re:turboedit

you can find zdynes for about 500 ish and it almost cost that much to convert to obd1 with the distributor, harness, injectors and ecu

Chris Harris 11-01-2004 06:40 PM

Re:turboedit

I picked up a dizzy for $50
P28 ECU for $90
OBD1 connectors for $10, OBD0 connectors for free and made myself a harness

Thats $150

Sell your ECU ($40-50) Sell your dizzy ($50) and then either spend $75 on a conversion harness or make your own for dirt cheap.

Comes no where close to $500...but go ZDYNE for all I care

slowpoke 11-01-2004 07:01 PM

Re:turboedit

can i get the obd1 connectors from you? (do you have extra)
what obd1 dizzys can i use ? (b16a, b18c) are those my only 2 options, i might just look into that.

Chris Harris 11-01-2004 08:25 PM

Re:turboedit

nah i dont have any...i recommend a junk yard or the classifieds here

if you have to go buy a convo harness (not a terrible idea really since they are fully tested and functional), i would say go with Blown90Hatch on Honda-Tech. He has a good reputation and makes a few different custom configurations based on your setup.

There are some cheaper solutions out there that will work as well...i just have seen that he has pretty good customer service and satisfied customers.

if you have a b16 then yes you will need the gsr or SI distributor...might be a touch more expensive than my LS distro

slowpoke 11-01-2004 10:28 PM

Re:turboedit

well if i could sell my zdyne 1 wire, and stock distro i might have enough for a p28 and obd1 distro, then i just need to come up with conversion harness, injectors, there is a shop that can probably tune the uberdata for me!
