TurboEdit...

Hopefully TurboEF9, will come in here and help me out:P..
But my question... I'm goin to be running a d16a1 or ZC nto sure, but with a PM7 ECU, most likely.. therefore OBD-0...
Now I've been trynna read up on pgm-fi, so damn confusing, can you direct me to a specific part of the site I should look at, I've bread most of the Wiki, but should I read closer?...
Also my main question is, would TurboEdit be good for 8-10psi daily and up to 20 at the track? Another ROM? Reccomend a standalone?
Thanks everyone.
Branden

Re:TurboEdit...

Depending on your MAP sensor, yes.

The new TurboeDIT2.0 ROM supports 1,2, and 3bar MAP sensors.

So, with the proper tuning, yes, you'll be able to run 20psi and higher.

Re:TurboEdit...

So say, 3 bar map, 450's... alot of freakin reasearch into tuning I'll be alright?

In the Wiki I read that it's a bit harder to put an EPROM into the 88-89 ECU's is it really hard, or with research doable?...

Is TE gonna have a boost controller built in soon? ;D
htanks!

PM7 chipping http://www.nitroburn.com/pgmfiwiki/i...pingAn88-89ECU wouldn't say it was too difficult, but you need to be confident with desoldering and soldering

Yes, depending on your hp rating. 450 cc injectors won't support 20psi, but you get the idea.

It's not hard at all. There are two different ways of going about it. You can build a small daughter board. Links to the schematics are in the Engine Management FAQ under the ECU Mod section (3-2 to be exact), or you can get a 40-pin MNU adapter, or burner that supports them.

Probably not. This woul dbe a feature of the ROM, and I haven't heard of this being int he works. There is a boost cut feature, but that is more of a "safety" feature.

Hmm K sounds good, thanks guys..
20psi was just a max number, would be too scared to go that high:P... What can 450's handle... whats the bigger size 500-something?
I was sorta confused on the site, what do you need for REal-time editing?
Thanks guys

There is going to be two ways to RTP (Real-Time Program).

One will be the use of Xtronic's Pocket ROMulator ( http://xtronics.com/memory/romutator.htm ), and the other will be the use of PGMFI's exclusive RTP daughter board in conjuction with the datalogging MAX233 cable.

Both will have their pros, and cons, but both will be effective, and should be available in the next few months.

(Note: I'm currently working on Xtronics support, beta testing should being in about two weeks)

I just updated the wiki to reflect the fact that there still is a problem with the 88-89 ECUs and chipping them.

It's the current item on my plate...

jason, what programs do I need to open those zip files? I unzipped them and adobe 6.0 couldn't open them and my outlook thing didn't like them either.

Jason, whats it gonna take to use the ROMulator?

I have a friend who turbo is down and he has all of that for tuning his hondata...maybe he'd loan it to me in the name of testing...

Let me know...and ill see if I can borrow it!

Re:TurboEdit...

Actually, xeno, just grab his ROMulator box, and a serial cable. That's all you need. Since I'm writing the software, you don't need anything else.

That owuld be great to get another tester on board.

leed is helping out as well. Two of the 4 main functions are working great!

Currently, my test app can upload, and download a tune into the ROMulator!!

Bad news is, I've been trying to work out what I thought were bugs in the other routines, and it turns out it's my ROMulator's firmware. I have to send it in to get updated. Oh well..

Re:TurboEdit...

Mmmm just read about ECUcontrol today.. ECUcontrol + Turboedit looks fun:D
Would I be able to hook up ECU Con. plus ROMulator for editing or...?

Re:TurboEdit...

So there is a separate APP for interfacing with the ROMulator or does it just run through the TE gui? I was wondering how that works, I know it acts like a chip and those values can change on the fly, just wondering how that was represented on screen.

Also, do I need datalogging for this or no? Max232?

I ASSume a serial cable comes with the ROMulatotr although I think I have a cable laying around...

Hmm...I will definitely test i you can help me through a bit :) Hit me up on AIM sometime...

When the test app is done. It will integrated seamlessly into TurboEDIT. My plan is to have you click a checkbox, and *poof* the values you change are then written to the EEPROM. You wont even notice a difference.

For ROMulator, no. Just the ROMulator box itself.

They sent me one with my kit, but I don't know if it comes with a retail kit..

[b]Heh, that's cool, only I have MSN.. :D We'll figure something out.

Hey, TurboEDITBeta2.0-Try6.exe is available for download on the TurboEDIT website.. Try that with Try21.bin. I think I narrowed down the problem to being that Speed Limiter option byte.

Even though the conversion formula said 0, it was converting the number to 0x03 int he ROM. And I guess the speed limiter code is broken so that was messing up the ROM.

Anyway, long story short.. Editing with Try6.exe should rip!!!

Re:TurboEdit...

Jason, is it possible to have the ROMulator and Max232 hooked up at the same time? Or with ROMulator is that usable with the ECU control software?

TurboEF9 01-14-2004 12:21 PM

Re:TurboEdit...

ROMulator doesn't, and won't, work with ECUControl. ECUControl is not tuning software, it's datalogging analyzer.

You can use ROMulator and TurboEDIT together. Datalog through TurboEDIT, and program on the fly through TurboEDIT.

Re:TurboEdit...

No no no... What I'm saying is it possible to hook up the hardware for romulator and ecu control at the same time?... or is i tthe same hardware. Thanks:D

Re:TurboEdit...

If you have two COM ports, or if you use USBMOD for ECUControl, then yes.

Instigator_CRX87 01-14-2004 05:44 PM

Re:TurboEdit...

Sweet, I was planning to go the USBmod route.. thank you sir.
I jus twasnt sure if you could fit them both on the ecu lol
