Re:Turbo edit and ebay, has anybody seen this?
there are shops in my town basically selling uberdata and turbo edit, but if you ask them, they're just charging to chip and tune your ecu. kind of pisses me off that these people are making money off something that is free that jason and blake devoted so many hours of FREE time to give people a FREE alternative to the other such pricey softwares :P

Whatever the legal nature of it is....its still pretty shitty that he is selling it like he is. He is doing almost no work to make money off of somebody else's work.
As far as shops "basically selling uberdata". Thats in a grey are as far as I'm concerned. I think shops that introduce somebody to uberdata, charge them to chip their ecu and tune their car with uberdata are not in spec of what Blake and Jason had in mind when they were creating these programs. They should definitely get with Blake or Jason and work something out so they do actually charge for uberdata and give those proceeds to Blake orJason. That would only be in the shop told them about the rom editor. I think its definitely fair for the shop charge to tune it, if a customer came in with an ecu and said "tune my ish with uberdata". But it would still be proper for them to give Blake a certain percentage for it, even if only 5% or something like that.

If a customer comes through the door and says I have $300, tune my ----...they know right off the bat that the person isnt going to be able to afford Hondata and a full dyno...but with $300 the shop knows they can legitimately educate the person on how to use the DIY software slightly and make it affordable for the customer, then great.
I dont think Jason or Blake really care guys...people will do this, you kinda have to expect it when you create a program like this...
It's also good you guys are out there hunting these ******** down and pointing them out...that will at least deter a few I guess.
Leed, I do agree, the guy is still a douchbag, but what can you really do.

Regardless of any legal obligation, these shops should atleast make a donation to Blake, Jason, and pgmfi.org for allowing them to make money off these customeers that can't afford hondata.
What's more important? Affordable safe tuning of your car? (BTW I think this is the goal for PGMFI) or that the creators get paid? In that case, I think I should get a donation for being such a diligent tester then :P
It's all a viscous cycle...
