tuning problems

well i havent tuned my map yet, no wide band :( but the ng 55 base map that xenocron gave me has been working good, untill this afternoon, all the sudden i started to feel power loss, harsh jerking when i get on the gas, backfiring, so i look some things over, and my plugs are so black they cant even be firing, these are plugs that are about 5-6 days old :( it has to be wayyyy to rich, but i dont know if i should pull any fuel or where to pull it from without a wideband :-\ i also noticed that my boost gauge is always at 10 in/hg vaccum at idle, even when its warm, it should be like 17-20 in/hg at idle right? does this mean that its really rich at idle too? here is my bin file if anyone thinks they can help by looking at it, im just afraid to get it lean anywhere and cause more damage than fouled plugs, any help would be much appretiated :)

well for some reason i cant attach my bin file? its just in "my documents", but when i try to attach it i get an error that says these type of files are not allowed to be attached????? >:( what am i doing wrong?

i guess its not an allowed file type...have to see if we can get that taken care off

pull out fuel VERY slowly....3% at a time max in various columns until the car feels better, a little peppy-r

have you done a compression test on this motor...even with a rich idle you should be pulling more vacuum

Re: tuning problems

i did a compression test about 4 months ago, and keep in mind it has only had like 2000 miles put on it since then, and about 150 miles boosted, the compression was 195 across the board +/- 1% it dont get much better than that, guess i'll have to do another though, could a vaccum leak make it pull less vaccum, but wouldnt it idle really shitty? should i pull any fuel out at idle? the only shot i got at a wideband for now is like an hour on a dyno, but can you even tune idle and vaccum on a dyno wideband, i thought it just logs afr's when you make a full throttle run?

Re: tuning problems

Uhm.. call me crazy, but, if it was "working good" for 150 miles, then all of a sudden, it's not running right, that would lead me to think that it's not an ECU issue. When tuning, you know right away if a tune is ---- or not.

Have you checked your injectors to make sure they're not sticking? Have you checked your fuel pressure to make sure your FPR hasn't bit the ----? Has anything on the setup been changed since you started using the ECU?

Honestly, I would think the problem would be more mechanical.

Re: tuning problems

ok i will check the fuel pressure, how do i check if i have a sticky injector? i will also check timeing, and do a compression test.....what is causing me to only pull 10 in/hg of vaccum at idle? altitude? i am at 5000 ft elevation, but maybe thats still not enough vaccum?

Re: tuning problems

You may have developed a vacuum leak somewhere. Check your vacuum lines; maybe one of them was blown off by boost, or devoured by animals.

any codes?

Re: tuning problems

no codes, i strongly believe this is a tuning issue, i am only pulling about 10 in/hg vaccum at idle, and my spark plugs are black as the night, i think its just rich as ---- and it took about 150 miles to foul the plugs out enough that it started running shitty, but i dont have a wideband to tune it :( damn this sux....
