tune for nitrous?

how can a motor be tuned for the use of nitrous? like example if i put it on my lsvtec?

Re:tune for nitrous?

Nitrous tuning is much simpler than a turbo set up. Dry kits I recommend an adjustable fpr,big pump and colder plugs. Same for direct port kit very simple.

Re:tune for nitrous?

i believe that uberdata now has a script for nitrous, if you wanna go that route.

check the uberdata forum to see how it works.

Re:tune for nitrous?

i would put cold plugs in, retard the timing a few deg. at the dizzy, and maybe put on an adjustable fpr and turn it up a bit, just get a wet kit and it'll be cool with the cold plugs and retarded timing....

kool thanks guys.

Re:tune for nitrous?

yeah, uber has a nitrous script in the works, but it's not 'officially' ready for use yet. however, instead of retarding at the dizzy and losing bottom end power as well, you could run a stock map with uber and only pull timing at wot when you would be spraying, and or whatever rpm range you choose. pulling a couple degrees of timing is the main thing with nitrous, other than that, it's 'pretty much' plug and pRay ;)

Re:tune for nitrous?

I use to be a huge nitrous fan have a built way to many set ups. Your best bet for a typical street set up is stay under a 65 shot, -4 degress of base timing for a 65 shot -2 for 55 or 50 also a good kit not a rigged together special. Fpr, fuel pump, colder plugs. Oh I never blew a motor or any friends customers car on nitrous with these basic rules :)

Re:tune for nitrous?

i'll actually be putting my car on the bottle prolly in a week or two, as soon as i get all my friends cars out of my car port and have time to work on my own :P i'm a little to strapped for another turbo kit right now (what i'm looking to get anyways ;) ) so i figure the bottle will hold me over for a while.

b16 right. Dont go to crazy. I would go with a 50-55 and just have fun with it

i had a 50 shot wet setup on my d, then my b. i didn't do anything about the tuning other than retard the timing a bit as mentioned above. i ended up having to replace my clutch pretty quick. i have a complete custom kit including bottle warmer, purge kit, bottle guage.... i'd love to sell it but no one seems to want it. it includes all the wiring, relays, all you have to do is hook it up! everything is labelled and still connected together so putting it in would be a snap. maybe i should advertise it again.

do 75 shot with the bottle warmer... it will give you a nice kick

This is the wrong site to try to sell nitrous to. I might be able to get my buddy to put his impala on the bottle, that would be fun. Just not in winter.

if you have some extra money, a safc2 or vafc2 wouldnt hurt eather, pump more fuel when nitrous kicks in, msd ignition helps too

waste of money. Fuel is added via jets all you need is a big pump to feed the fuel system. Try again ::)

I got a pretty badass nitrous setup, its a NX direct port, NOS purge, and 2 bottles. For management I had a crane cam ignition with an ignition retard hooked up to the solenoids so the timing would only be retarted under the spray.

Actually not really. The majority of car ---- is usually a headache but that kit was fun to do if you have the right tools. I just bought a tight radius bender from NOS and a 37 degree flare tool and it went smoothly. I guess the hardest part was I wanted to keep them all equal length and just trying to get it to snake around the throttle cable.

Re:tune for nitrous?

That is a really nice setup. The best thing to do nitrous would be getting a dual table kinda thing so when nitrous comes in you can run off a different map. I think AEM has it and I believe Megasquirt does as well. I am not too in depth with nitrous, I just know my brother had a 100 shot on his ser, just went with colder plugs, pulled timing and had an adjustable FPR. And it was good to go. Ran 8.1 in the 1/8th on slicks.

Reddy 01-28-2005 05:45 PM

Re:tune for nitrous?

The thing about nitrous is that you don't need a crazy complicated fuel map for nitrous cause the wet systems usually take care of the fuel. So its really just the timing that needs tuning.
