Default TRUE OR FALSE!!

If you have a na engine is it true you run best at stoich? in the middle of the air fuel guage. orange.

No. That is where your emissions are best. You want to run a little leaner.

For medium throttle you want to run stoich, for environmental purposes and maximum fuel economy. This is a point at which your fuel against air is measured 14:1, and is where all factory Honda's are destined to be for daily driving.

When you reach hi-throttle (above 72% as I believe is programmed in the ECU) you will start reaching the 15:1 point, this is where your fuel is actually increased to give you more performance, coupled with VTEC it is an engineering marvel!

Anyways, in essence you will need to run at the 15:1 level, or as close to it as possible. Anything richer and you may be flooding the engine (during compression there is to much gas and will literally minimize the explosion WITH gas!)

I hope this answers your question, and that I didn't get to technical I could go far more in depth with the chemistry, but thats not necessary just run richer and you'll get that added kick to your ride.

ummm 15:1 is LEANER than 14:1

for max power, i believe the target is around 12.5:1 for boost and maybe slightly leaner for n/a. the final mixture depends on your setup and can only be determined on the dyno. richer = safer, so when i first start tuning ill probably aim for around 11:1 to 12:1 to make up for any inconsistencies.

Yeah Ive got my sources backwards, I haven't been dealing with cars for to long. You do want to run leaner, I had it right but wrong. The leaner you run though, the greater chance of pinging you will have but the more power that will result (thinking that the more compressed gasoline is in an area with its environment the better its explosive potential). HOWEVER, Honda's tend to run on the richer side, below the 14:1 mixture during WOT because it will also produce more power then stoich to run slightly rich. It is also easier on the engine to run more gas then to little.

You'll need a wide band O2 sensor in order to determine what your proper air/fuel measurements are.
