tricking your engine into thinking its cold?

I've read somewhere that there is a way to trick your engine into thinking its cold and therefore giving it more fuel. Correct me if im wrong but if there is a way to do this with my engine (d16z6) can someone help me out? thanks

it makes your ECU think that the engine is cold and dumps fuel in...not a good way to do it though

I know what it does, but I just wanted to know why. If he substituting that for fuel management it's proly not a good idea to run the car like that for too long.
