tricking a p28 to think you have a 2 wire iacv
so here is the deal my cousin has the y7 in a 97 lx and he is switching to odb-1 and is using a p28. i know you have to switch to a 2 wire iacv.... but i heard you can just do some wire trick to make it think you got a 2 wire but you still are using the 3 wire....
any links or help is greatly app...... |
Re:tricking a p28 to think you have a 2 wire iacv
No you can't. Your fucked. You can always remove the IAC completely from the TB and use a block off plate. Then just get a 2 wire iac and hang it somewhere and plug it in. The only down side is no higher rpm cold idle.

or you'll need to get a two wire iacv.

Re:tricking a p28 to think you have a 2 wire iacv
if you're not running a y8 manny already get one with the 2 wire iacv. solder the 2 wire plug into the 3 wire harness leaving the 3 wire connected to the harness just in case you have to go back for some reason (emissions, etc) and move one wire in the harness. you'll get the benefits of the y8 manifold and you'll have the idle issue fixed as well as cel since the 3 wire is going to trip it.

Re:tricking a p28 to think you have a 2 wire iacv
biggmike found a write up on how to rewire the 3 wire iacv to act as a 2 wire iacv, so you didn't actually have to swap out manifolds and ---- just to use the 2 wire, he had the same problem b/c he had the yz mani also. i'm too lazy to look for it, but it's in here somewhere :-\

pm biggmike, he prolly has the link for it, i don't feel like flipping through all the threads from the past 3 months since our search function blows like no other :P maybe when we find it, it should be added to the faq, or made a sticky :-\
