TPS voltage question.

I know there are mainly Honda people on here, but I had a question about what the voltage output of a typical TPS sensor is. I just hooked up my SAFC in a different way (as in hook up the TPS),, and it seems that at idle, it reads a little over 5 volts. It's a Toyota, and most sensors on it are denso. The reason I ask is ever since I did this, the car will not start. Any help will be great. Thanks,

Colin

Re: TPS voltage question.

Ya, I have heard of people using TPS voltage instead of MAP/MAF to control thier SAFC... I personally dislike that method...

Anyway, to measure your voltage, turn the car to "on", but not started, stick a volt meter pre-SAFC. Measure closed, measure WOT. Then you will see what your TPS is actually outputting, so you know it's initial range. Then put it post SAFC.. If it still seems "off", make sure your SAFC doesn't have any settings still stored in it. If it does, clear them, then recalibrate your TPS in the SAFC.

Well, I hooked everything up okay (I think). I still have the Map signal hooked up to the right wires, but there was a grey wire that I was told was for the TSP. Does this really need to be hooked up to determine the load (throttle % changes for WOT and partial throttle?). I'll mess with it some more. Thanks.

I'm not sure on the SAFC if it has Hi and Lo maps... haven't seen one in a while.

..but, to make TPS load work, you replace TPS with the MAP wires. Might be something else you have to do... like I said, I don't recommend this this.
