Total newbie turbo project - need help
Hi guys,
Sorry, at the outset, cause most of my questions might appear to be silly.
i have very little knowledge of cars and technology but wanted a fast car.
spoke to another guy here and "turbo" was the answer he came up with.
i own a 1.5 L (non-VTEC) Honda city which is available in Singapore, Thailand and India.
the engine is a b19d (i think)
anyway, managed to source a turbo from an old mitshubishi engine.
hooked it up along with a local intercooler and a HKS BOV.
Started the car and the car flies, go out to an open road and want to test it. open it fully and the Check Engine Light comes up.
Switch off the car, start again and same prob. Couple of runs and the pistons blow.
Switch over to lower compression pistons off another honda and try again but the Check Engine Light is still coming up.
Come to HMT and post a question, read through the FAQs and end up ordering the "MAP Sensor controller" from Jackson racing.
Hook this up as per the instructions given, still not able to get rid of the CEL. Now have fused my petrol pump to run at full pressure and still not able to resolve this completely.
have i missed out on anything? The "gurus" out there - please help me.
many thanks in advance.
- killjoy.

Re: Total newbie turbo project - need help
There is a very simple concept that you missed when readying the faq. If you add more air, you HAVE to add the appropriate amount of fuel. I don't know what the city's injectors max out at, but chances are you hit that limit yet continued to force more air in. That's why your pistons blew and it will continue to happen until you do something to add more fuel.

Re: Total newbie turbo project - need help
so are you guys saying that the stock fuel pump running at full pressure is not enough to compensate for the extra air?
ok, so what do you guys suggest that i go in for? and if i add a fuel management system, can i go back to my stock pistons which should provide a little more compression?
