timing with obd1

when converting from OBD2 to OBD1 in a 98 civic ex (using the base p28), do you need to change the timing?

my car bounces (litterally jumps everywhere) when taking off up to about 1500 rpms

i dont think your base timing would change...unless it was way off and the OBD2 ECU was compensating for that. Cant hurt to check the base timing with a inductive timing light

also, im not sure if you can use the base p28 file that comes with Uber...I think you have to open the P72 file and import the P28.

might be part of your problem...other than that i would say get a wideband on it and see because if its bucking you could be running dangerously lean

I have the exact same problem. I just put a D16Z6 w/ p28 in my brother's '91 Si hatch. I did OBD0-1 conversion and when I hold about 1500 rpm, I can see the timing jump toward TDC like a crazy bitch, then normal, then nearer TDC, then after I rev higher, it is fine. Makes it really hard to drive unless I drive very 'aggresively'...
