Default Thinking I might be ready to try tuning

I've been reading for days now about tuning and how to use turboedit. My brain no longer feels as if its going to explode, and I understand alot more than I did a couple of days ago. I now know how to create basemaps, and understand what is envolved in tuning. Such as changing the fuel map to get the right air fuel readings. I need to read up a little more on the timing part, but ill get there The only thing im questioning is what to buy to get started. My ecu is allready chipped so im looking at buying
SST 27sf512 Chips
http://www.-------------/image/SST-chips.jpg
Moates BURN1 USB Chip Programmer
http://www.-------------/image/burn1usb.jpg
USB Datalogging Kit
http://www.-------------/image/usb-kit.jpg

Ok this is where I start to have some questions. I know that a wideband O2 is needed. Im hoping I can just use my buddys. Well where im getting confused is all the ---- that is sold for the wideband such as the
LC-1 Wideband Controller
http://www.-------------/image/lc-1.jpg
Is this necessary and what the ---- does it do? Can I just buy this?
XD-16 Universal Gauge System
http://www.-------------/image/xd-16.jpg

And something else. Id like to be able to do RTP ( real time programing ), and dont really want to spend the money for the Ostrich right now. So what would I buy for that? Is this it?
USB Datalogging Kit

Which ive allready got listed above

One more thing ive been stressing. Someone give me a hint on what needs to be done to run 680cc injectors with turboedit. Ive been told it can be done but havent really found much on it.

I'd apprecite any help I can get. Thanks

the lc-1 reads through the laptop if you dont have the gauge set-up for it.. just get a aem uego and be done no extra parts to buy or anything and i love mine.. for the rtp function you want im pretty sure ostrich is the only way with TE so a datalog kit would do you good until you buy one. im looking into geting burn1 myself i had a willem that worked great but i sold it,so either one will work with the sf512 chips, and as far as using 680cc's in turbo edit i would think you use the 450cc injector setting and scale your map for what the 680's are capable off pushing...chris or anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

So your saying somthing like this is all I need?
http://www.injectedperformance.com/I...d-AEMGauge.jpg
So there is no need to hook the wideband to my ecu or laptop? Thats what I was hoping anyway.

For the RTP funtion the usb dataloging kit will work? If so why does everybody by the Ostrich? Im guessing the usb isnt to good or what.

And for the 680cc injectors I know that ill start with the 450cc setting and scale up, but how the hell do i go about that. I dont know where to start with that one.

USB Datalogging is good for only datalogging...you dont make any changes through the datalogging USB cable.

You burn a chip, make some runs...datalog them and then come home or pull over. Make changes and burn a new chip and put it in your ECU and start over.

You do that or run an Ostrich which allows you to make changes in realtime...the only point you would burn a chip is at the end. If you want to leave the Ostrich in fulltime as well you can and never have to burn a chip unless you wanted to for someone else...

On the wideband...you want something that has a good linear output signal so that you can put that signal to your ECU and log it.

I personnally tell people to try and run 450cc injectors max with TurboEdit...there is just as not as much adjustability with TurboEdit on larger injectors. It can be done but you will see side effects (Tip-In, start-up, etc)

for the wideband yes the one in the link is all you need but it does have an extra wire to hook to your ecu so the ecu thinks its running a regular o2 as well which is good so you dont have to weld 2 bungs in your downpipe and yes you can leave the wideband in full time with no need to remove it(mine is full time mounted).. everyone uses the ostrich because you can put an entirely different bin file in your ecu without ever shutting the car off. it makes it so much eaiser because you dont have to turn the car off take the chip out of the ecu reburn a different map and then put it back in the ecu and start all over again,te usb works good enough but its hard to get the TE to work propely so alot of guys including myself get ECUCONTROL and it seems to work well... and as far as where to start your map for the 680's i couldnt even tell you remtly where to start, maybe check into PGMFI a little more or make a post about it there,or just wait for someone else to chime in here.

Well I guess im going to have to switch over to ODB1, which sucks cuz ive got to spend even more money . I guess its what I gotta do if I want to try and reach my power goals. So I guess crome is what im going to end up using. Ive got a couple of questions now.
>What ecu should i get to run my dohc zc?
>Will the basic crome work since im not a "tuner" is it necassry to purcase cromepro?
>And im guessing i still buy all the same tools that were discussed above^?
>And what distrubutor do i use for my dohc zc now?

i not sure about crome but you should run a p06 with a zc map,and you should/can get a obd-1 zc distributer from disrtibuter king on ebay yes it pricey but tat is the right way and yes all tools from above are universal.i dont think cromepro is necessary..

how much h.p. and whats your setup, if your looking for low boost on a zc i would just get a vafc and a wideband, becouse to convert to obd-1 spend all the money on a lap top and ostrich and all the other ---- your looking at almost a 1k with dyno time
