Stuff I learned at PRI/ domestic tuning discussion thread
So after 3 days of listening to info about tuning domestics (and one seminar by Craig Moates)...I figured I'd post up the basics of what I picked up and see what else you guys have learned/would like to learn about what the other side does.
Hardware:
Apparently, a lot of the hardware we know and love from Moates can be used on a variety of other applications such as Fords (F2, EEC, EECIV and V, maybe others?) and older TPI and TBI GM vehicles(including lt1's). By using adapters(such as the FordEMU) you can use the Ostrich and Burn1 to tune these vehicles, although they dont seem to share the same software availability as we do in the Honda world. The Ford stuff works through the J3 port which allows you to hook up an adapter to basically tell the computer to look for data elsewhere (from what I understand so far). The Gm cars require an adapter that goes in place of the stock memcal and allows the use of a reburnable chip.
The newer GM guys seem to love EFI Live, and by far the most talked about part at the booth was the Roadrunner by Moates. It allows realtime tuning without shutting the car off during changes on the new Ls1's, etc. I know a few guys on here have ls1 cars so maybe this would be something they could chime in about.
Software:
Ford guys seem to have luck with either EEC Editor or TunerPro, while GM guys can use the latter. For a long time the TunerPro Software scared the ---- out of me because of its seemingly complex nature, but after spending a few days with its author (Mark Mansur) I have come to see how useful it can be. Instead of being written for one particular make/model, TunerPro is able to be used with basically anything you can find/write a definition file for. To be honest I dont know all the details involved in doing this, but many people came up to the booth and surprised Mark/myself with what they have been tuning with his software (a few Bmw guys in particular) after creating their own definition files.
Basically the show kickstarted me into wanting to learn about how the same methods/hardware we use for hondas are applied to other makes. For a long time I thought we were the only ones who had low-cost options for tuning, and I was surprised to learn how much of the domestic stuff can be tuned without spending big $$$. If any of you have any experience in this area I'd be interested to hear about it (particularly the newer Ford stuff since I have a few friends I would like to help out with tuning). I'm sure some of my information might be a little off or incomplete, so feel free to add to what I have said or correct me.

Tunerpro used to be a bit of a PITA, but since Mark released v4 a couple years back it's really caught on.
I got all excited by Tunerpro after the whole PRI thing. It's pretty sweet.

off subject but i had a question for you guys.. i want to put a larger throttle body on my car but instead of spending 150-350 bucks on one thats 68mm i want to get a FI mustang one thats like 75 or so.. my intercooler piping is 3" and you can get them for like 100 used at various places but if i made a plate thats like the hf to t3 or like hf to dsm turbo ones, but for a honda 4 bolt(all interchangable almost) to a mustang one from aluminum..? but ther is the idea but the question its the tps whats your input?

IIRC, the Mustang TPS is designed to output .5-4.5 volts, so it's 100% compatible. You can define custom TPS in some softwares, too.
Best bet is to have the TB plate welded to your IM. Yo wouldn't be the first Stang TB I've seen on a Honduh, it works pretty well.

they so cheap, 84 bucks for a 75 mm..? can bitch too loud. i also have another idea for an injection system like water meth or anything, but that will be in another thread. haha its so ghetto though..

Hard to explain, i have pictures,but the cord is lost.. we are goin to put it on a friends diesel truck tonight to see if it will create more smoke, dont ask me but the diesel trcuk guys just want more fuel.. whatever, but the unit if from one of those forced air heaters. the electric fan has a pumo on it. and the positve pressure from that pump goes to this injector and then the fuel is pulled from the tank of them. but when the positive pressure is blown it it makes a pretty nice pattern, for a mechanical injection system.. idk its just an idea i had i want to see what its like.
