Start/End address in hex
 
Hey,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me the correct start/end chip/buffer addressing in Flash and Burn. I had it bookmarked from a pgmfi thread but I lost all my bookmarks. I thought that it was the following:
Chip Addressing Start/End: 000000 and 00FFFF respectively.
Buffer Addressing Start/End: 000000 and 007FF respectively.
Oh yeah, this is for 27SF512 chips.

sometimes it doesnt for some odd reason.

I was helping set up a friends burn1 on his laptop and everything was set at '000000'. We uninstalled it and reinstalled it and its still the same.

The one on my computer is perfect and I've never had a problem with it.

Mine is dumb and never changes the addresses for me. I have all the newest firmware and software, so who knows.

For the SST chips it is 8000 for the start address.

Only if it's SST 27sf512's. The 256 versions still has 0000 for the start address...32bits vs. 64.

Ok, that was my second guess as it would go to the 8000. Is that just for the chip start or for the buffer as well?

The buffer address is always the same for any chip, becuase the buffer address is the address range of the bin file. You always want it 000000H to 007FFFH.

The difference is the chip range, which is on the higher end of the chip (EDIT* SST 512) because A15 has Vcc on it all the time, so 008000H to 00FFFFH.


So, to re-cap: EDIT* for SST 512

Buffer: 000000H to 007FFFH

Chip: 008000H to 00FFFFH

Awesome, its good to know that it is the same for every chip. I think that sometimes we just learn enough to get by but don't fully understand why it is so. Thanks for the explination.
