spark advance vs safc2
 
Worried a bit because of spark advance with safc2.. got cold sparkplugs and will run rich and with IC and oil cooler.. how can i bring back spark ??

hi, yes, i'm selling it already but i know some guys use the SAFC anyway with turbo and have some method to retard spark... i want to know how they do it !

Some use an MSD BTM. It's much better to use a chipped ecu.

i will use megasquirt... hope it works ok, never programed but will have some help from some more experienced guys.

You can retard the distributor timing.

the distributor is not mechanic, how can i do that ??

hope i dont have many problems tuning and installing megasquirt, as i see this is impossible to do without proper ecu tuning.

safc2 would work nicely under boosts till 0.8 bar i gess, but even at those pressures it wouldnt be safe.

good octane gas and cold spark doesnt garantee it.

Assuming you have a Honda, you would retard the distributor/ignition timing by pulling the distributor towards the front of the car. I have used the VAFC-1, and that's the same thing I did to mine. I had to retard mine to 7 degees BTDC to avoid pinging. FYI...I made 225whp/211ftq on a SOHC using this method.

As stated before a chipped ECU will yield better results.
