Someone Fix Me On Map Sensors
 

Alright, I've been reading around and have a beginners idea of tuning now. Still have one question about map sensors that i haven't found an answer to yet.
Okay, I thought that a stock honda map sensor can't see pressure above atmospheric without giving a check engine light. Is this right? Past atmosphere pressure, it exceeds 3.1V, right?
@ http://www.hondata.com/3barinstall.html it says: "The standard Honda MAP sensor can read boost up to 11 lbs. By using a 3 bar MAP sensor boost up to 28 lbs can be read"
If the above statement is true, and if most people aren't boosting past 11 psi, why are so many people using check valves, missing links, or upgraded MAP sensors?
And another thing about those check valves & missing links. . . If you restrict the pressure sensed by the MAP sensor w/a check valve or missing link, how does your ECU know how to correct the a/f ratio in open loop(that's when it's NOT using the ROM right?), even after it's tuned? Does it just use the 0V-3.1V band to hold the a/f ratio tuned in the ROM?

Ok, you can't show a stock Honda ECU boost. But you can show a chipped ECU boost. The map sensor itself is good 11 psi. You can run more on an Uberdata chipped ECU but it won't enrichen or adjust timing past that. Check valves and missing links are used if you are using an FMU with a stock computer. The check valve/missing link allows the computer to see where you are in vaccuum to adjust but bleeds off boost so it thinks you are at 0 psi like an N/A car. The GM 3 bar conversion is only for higher boost levels and not needed under 11 psi. Most people will tell you that you can run 12-13 psi and just adjust the last column in the software to compensate.

So what exactly is changing your map sensor, just basically taking out the factory unti and wiring in a GM 3BAR?

Thats all there is to it and your good up til 28psi? Nothing else needs to be fucked with?....

I dunno, learning curve

Why do people run missing links when a GM 3 bar are like $50? Advantages/disadvantages to the GM 3BAR?

you cant just put the 3bar in, your ecu has to be set up to read it, they are scaled differently

K sweet, I told Xeno that I would be running a gm 3 bar, hopefully he burned that on my chip
