Some questions with installing apexi AVC-R

I am installing an avc-R on my saab 9000 aero. I know you guys dont know saabs but its a mitsubishi Td-o4 turbo wiht an internal wastegate/external actuator. Im wondering if I have it set up right right. Line from the actuator nipple goes to the COM port, and line from the compressor housing nipple to the NO port, NC port left to open atmosphere. Im trying to get a stable 20lbs of boost and Im wondering what I should set my boost/duty to. What is the duty cycle anyways, what does it mean/set when you adjust it? Also does anyone know if I can run just the basic boost controlling (none of the gear set boost etc.) without connecting the VSS, RPM, or Throttle % wires?? Thanks and Im sorry its so long.

Is your motor stock? If so, I don't recommend running 20 psi. Saabs already have an electronic boost controller from the factory, called APC (automatic pressure control) Basically this takes things into effect such as the octane of your gas and will raise the boost accordingly. Pretty cool factory system. Anyways, If you are installing some sort of aftermarket boost controller I would completely remove the APC system, they will probably conflict with each other. And don't run 20 psi unless your motor is built to handle it.

do you not have the instructions?

why not go to there website you can download all the documentation from there

I have the instructions, I was just double checking and asking a couple questions that I couldnt figure out the answers too.

my motor is built from the factory, to handle a lot more than 20 psi ;) At 20 psi Im still below 300whp and these motors can take 350-400 without any internals. The APC you refer too is old technology, my car has a much more advanced and thankfully mod happy. I have removed yes all of my stock boost control and now I leave it up to my map sensor and ecu to give me all the fueling and timing I need up to 21psi :)

Re: Some questions with installing apexi AVC-R

I did some more searching and it looks like I have the solenoid set up correctly. Im wondering, does anyone know what the avc is looking for when it comes to RPM and throttle signal?? I have them both hooked up to what I thought was the right wires but the RPM is all over the place. At idle its at like 3800-4000rpm then when I drive around it just kinda goes from 1000-6000 randomly, not at all like it should. The unit is connected to the only wire going to my ecu (according to my wiring diagram) from my cylinder position sensor, which is where I assume I get the RPM signal since I have direct ignition on my car (no distributor). The throttle wire is hooked up to one of the two wires going to my ecu from my TPS but both wires just give the same result. When I go to sensor check it just says it sees around 1V no matter if I have the throttle open, closed, or anywhere in between. Sorry this is so long and I know most of you wont read it or care but hopefully someone that knows these apexi devices can help me out

Re: Some questions with installing apexi AVC-R

You have to setup the apexi to understand the signal of the wires.... under the etc menu their is an option to setup the sensors, it will say cylinders speed throttle. Cylinders is basic, set the # of cylinders you have. Speed is for the speed input if your using it, if not I think you can set it to off. If you are im not sure what it should be set to, mine is set on 4. If you have the speed on the right wire keep try different #'s until you see it showing the right speed. Remember its in kph no mph, my speedo reads both. For throttle its for the throttle position sensor and has an arrow. pointing up and to the right is how mine is set. Again, if you have it on the right wire try different arrow positions unti lit shows the correct throttle value under the monitor section. The duty cyle is what controls your boost, the boost value is just a target for the controller to hit. You dont have to use the gear based boost if you dont want too. You do have to have the rpm signal connected to the controller in order for it work properly, along with the throttle signal. If those are wrong the boost controller will do some crazy stuff.....
