Some Crome help please...

Ok, Since everyone here said to go crome, i decided to try it out. I have worked with uberdata before, but never on a "Boosted" Car. So Setup is as follows-y7/y8 mini me, small ass turbo 19t,sidemount, walbro pump 255lph rc440's and I had a fmu, but removed before crome installation. And lastly a missing link, still on there.
So I started with a p28 basemap on the p30 program, set the boost values and injector size, set my options, and burned the chip. The car starts, and just dumps fuel, i mean it barely idles and fmokes like crazy. I dont understand why? could anyone help, I tried the search function, close, but no cigar

you should take off the missing link, you only need that for fmu
but thats not what is making it run rich.

First off, take off the missing link. If you leave it on, your ecu will never see boost and never go to that part of the table.

Secondly, it sounds like you don't have a wideband... how exactly do u plan on tuning?
Did u just intend to turn down the fuel until you don't see black smoke comin out your exhaust?

I believe the y7/y8 map is much different than the p28 basemap, regardless, you're messing with multipliers for your injectors and when u do that it's not gonna be perfect. So you have to make adjustments. You're not gonna be able to make adjustments without a wideband, period.

I'm not sure if a y8 is the same more or less as a y7/y8. Try using one of the Y8 basemaps from:

http://www.-------------/bins/index.p...irectory=Crome

and adjust it for your injectors.

I think that's prolly as close as you'll get w/o a wideband.

thanks, well i will try that, and I just need to drive the car down to the dyno for tuning, but it needs to run to get it there.

I see no stock bins on the link provided, only tuned ones.

I was going to suggest the PGMFI Wiki, but there's not much there :P

I didn't say they were stock, they're "basemaps" ;D

I'll see if I can find a p2p map but I don't remember where i found it and the timing is gonna be messed up on it anyway.

read this:
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=61385.0

In fact, do a search for y8 timing. You'll find some interesting stuff.

I'm not a tuner by any means but I think I've read that your timing being way off (which it prolly is) can affect your AFR. Which could add to your predicament.

I'd just run JD's or maybe jeff's map, or better yet, tow to the tuner. The most I've done on these maps is idle, I won't trust them on the street until I get my wideband in.

but the car would still be drivable on a p28 map with what ive adjusted right? it barely idles and you cant drive it

I had my car running for a little while with a p28 map on my y8 and it ran pretty wierd. That was on a stock setup though. You sure u didn't screw something up on the FPR when you removed the FMU?

At this point I'm shooting in the dark.

well the fmu is not near the fpr so im sure thats fine.

Doesn't the FMU go connected to the FPR. If not, I'm an idiot and I need to go read some more.

Re: Some Crome help please...

its connected by a vacuum line, do you mean having the fmu in damaged the fpr?

u sure u didnt fuk the ecu?

i fuked one once, had a rev limiter at 3500, and was pig rich as you stated. undrivable.

no everything is fine now, jumper wasnt connected well, car was running of stock map. She runs great now!!

*LOL* it's cool when you find something simple like that isn't it.

so all the time you where running VERY lean but guessed it was dumping fuel, how is that???

Well if it was on a stock map it would be dumping fuel at like there is 240cc injectors not 440 and running uber rich.

:y yup you were bass ackwards on that one Z1

Re: Some Crome help please...

my next question would be how could it be the conversion harness making it run a stock map??? if the harness had a bad connection the ecu wouldnt get power, from what i can tell is as long as the J1 jumper is there w/ the rest of the necassary components to run an external eprom if the ecu has power it will read from the chip, or am i bass ackwards again????????????

HMTdmc 06-14-2006 07:42 PM

Re: Some Crome help please...

nope your straight if the jumper is on j1 the ecu reads the map from the eprom

z1guy 06-14-2006 07:51 PM

Re: Some Crome help please...

ok, then how is it possible for the conversion harness to cause it to run the stock maps???

I never mentioned a conversion harness, jumper as in J1 on the ecu internally

sorry but what means about "missing link" ?

One thing that is common among all options is dealing with the stock MAP sensor. Since Honda engines are not intended to run at positive manifold pressures, the ECU will trigger a Check Engine Light if it senses positive pressure from the MAP sensor. There are 2 ways of avoiding the Check Engine Light, either keep the MAP sensor from sensing boost by using one way air valves called check valves (The Missing Link made by Synapse, is recommended, picture below) or by replacing the ECU, and/or MAP sensor, with an aftermarket unit that can process positive pressure.
