Some Crome help please...

Ok, Since everyone here said to go crome, i decided to try it out. I have worked with uberdata before, but never on a "Boosted" Car. So Setup is as follows-y7/y8 mini me, small ass turbo 19t,sidemount, walbro pump 255lph rc440's and I had a fmu, but removed before crome installation. And lastly a missing link, still on there.
So I started with a p28 basemap on the p30 program, set the boost values and injector size, set my options, and burned the chip. The car starts, and just dumps fuel, i mean it barely idles and fmokes like crazy. I dont understand why? could anyone help, I tried the search function, close, but no cigar

you should take off the missing link, you only need that for fmu
but thats not what is making it run rich.

First off, take off the missing link. If you leave it on, your ecu will never see boost and never go to that part of the table.

Secondly, it sounds like you don't have a wideband... how exactly do u plan on tuning?
Did u just intend to turn down the fuel until you don't see black smoke comin out your exhaust?

I believe the y7/y8 map is much different than the p28 basemap, regardless, you're messing with multipliers for your injectors and when u do that it's not gonna be perfect. So you have to make adjustments. You're not gonna be able to make adjustments without a wideband, period.

I'm not sure if a y8 is the same more or less as a y7/y8. Try using one of the Y8 basemaps from:

http://www.-------------/bins/index.p...irectory=Crome

and adjust it for your injectors.

I think that's prolly as close as you'll get w/o a wideband.

thanks, well i will try that, and I just need to drive the car down to the dyno for tuning, but it needs to run to get it there.

I see no stock bins on the link provided, only tuned ones.

I was going to suggest the PGMFI Wiki, but there's not much there :P

I didn't say they were stock, they're "basemaps" ;D

I'll see if I can find a p2p map but I don't remember where i found it and the timing is gonna be messed up on it anyway.

read this:

In fact, do a search for y8 timing. You'll find some interesting stuff.

I'm not a tuner by any means but I think I've read that your timing being way off (which it prolly is) can affect your AFR. Which could add to your predicament.

I'd just run JD's or maybe jeff's map, or better yet, tow to the tuner. The most I've done on these maps is idle, I won't trust them on the street until I get my wideband in.

I had my car running for a little while with a p28 map on my y8 and it ran pretty wierd. That was on a stock setup though. You sure u didn't screw something up on the FPR when you removed the FMU?

At this point I'm shooting in the dark.
