solid CEL, no codes

i have a 93 ex no turbo yet. im using uberdata and i chipped my ecu myself with a kit from xenocron. i used a completely stock p28 map just to eliminate any of my programming errors but when i start the car i immedatly get a CEL and if i try to check the codes it just stays on steady. i am assuming it is a bad solder or something like that, but i have looked it over numerous times and it all looks good. any ideas?

Bad solder or bad burn

can any of those parts that came in the kit be in backwards or do they go either way? i think im gonna check for bad solders again and if that doesnt do it then i will try burning again

EDIT:: i ran my soldering iron over every solder i made, added a little solder to a couple and reburned the chip with no luck. can anything else cause the same problem?

Yes, make sure your 74HC chip is installed correctly. Also look for any lifted traces etc. As xenocron mentioned it could also be a bad burn, maybe try reburning the .bin.

unseat and seat the chip a few times, make sure none of the legs are going on the side of the socket, and then try burning a different rom.

i have tried making three different maps and burned each one a couple times. i always check to make sure the chip sits like it should in the socket. also, is it normal for the car to run even with the chip out? i figure its some sort of limp mode cause its super rich

Re: solid CEL, no codes

there's a limp mode that the ecu will go into if it doesn't like the new chip.

what burner, what chip?

Re: solid CEL, no codes

ok, i downloaded another bin file and it ran my car w/o a CEL. only problem was it was for 450cc injectors so it ran like ass, but no CEL. now i have to figure out why i cant make a completely stock p28 map that will run w/o a CEL. i am using uberdata with an older willem burner and an sst27sf512 chip. i am just trying to learn this stuff with as little variables as possible and then slowly add the variables so i can tackle them one at a time. once i can make a map that works stock then im going to add my 450cc injectors and then when that works i will add the turbo
