Solid CEL with new burner

I had recently purchased a chipped ecu with a basemap for my civic for 450 cc injectors. By the time I had the turbo on I ended up with 550cc injectors. I wanted to see if the car would start so I started it up with the basemap for the 450s and it ran fine. It was too rich obviously but I could drive it without any problems (note i only drove it for 30 seconds then took it home because it was untuned). I got another basemap sent to me from the same place I got the chipped ecu for the 550cc injectors. Today i just recieved my flash n, burn so now I could burn the basemap for the 550s. I burned the the map onto a blank chip, put it in the car, started it up and it ran like ---- with a solid cel so I shut it down. Just for shits I wanted to make sure I was burning the chip properly so I took the basemap from the 450's still on the original chip, loaded it to the buffer, then burned it to the new chip. I put it in the ecu and it ran like ---- just like the basemap for the 550s. Now i'm convinced that it's something i'm doing wrong because the basemap for the 450s worked fine with no cel on the old chip but not with the copy I made on the new chip (note it is the exact same chip 27SF512). Does anybody have any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Are you sure those chips you are trying to write to are blank? You need to erase them before writing over them again. Also, make sure you have the chip installed in the burner correctly. It's possible you have it on the wrong side of the ZIF of the burner and your not burning the file to the chip.

I erase my 512's every single time.

yes I am erasing, blank checking, and verifying the contents every time. If I had the chip in the burner the wrong way wouldn't the car just not start?

Nope, it would start but you'd get a solid CEL and it would run real rich in the "safe mode".

depends on the burner. moates place it all the way down leaving 2 rows blank towards the lever. make sure you have the correct chip selected when burning.

Re: Solid CEL with new burner

OK here's what's happening now. I know i'm burning the chips properly. I loaded the original chip to the buffer, burnt it to the new chip without saving, and it works. So i loaded the original to the buffer again, saved it as a bin, and loaded the saved file, and burnt it. The car doesn't run properly. So it's happening when i'm saving/loading the file. Anyone got any ideas?
