Solid Cel in Crome every time.

ok, lemme start by saying i'm still a noob with the actual art of tuning, and burning chips and all of that. i'm learning by the day, but its been frustrating with this car.

setup is, greddy kit on a 96 gsr. 450s, obd1 conversion harness and chipped p06 with vtec. the ecu is fine. right now, the car is running on an ectune basemap from xenocron, and it runs great. watching the wideband, it just needs some leaning out in vacuum and a little smoothing in boost. soooooo, my friend luke (lkailburn on here) has been attempting to tune my car. problem is, the car refuses to run a crome basemap. he has a willem burner, and has burned 100s of chips with it. we found out the basemap xeno sent me is nearly identical to a map available on his site. we've tried downloading this map and putting it on a chip, but we get a solid cel every time. the car will start up and idle fine, which is weird. but it throws the cel. we've tried making completely new basemaps too, to no avail. everything throws a solid cel. we've tried 4 different chips, his willem burner, my burn1 burner, and two different laptops. luke summed it up best when he said, "it seems like the car is infected by ectune, and refuses to run on anything else.

does anyone have any ideas? or can someone send me a known good GSR map so i can try it? i really want to get the car tuned asap.

btw, pgmfi isn't loading for me, and HMT knows best anyway. please help

one other thing... are my IABs in my gsr manifold default open or closed? i cant control them with a p30 base, so if they are default closed i wanted to zip tie them open.

----, I don't know what the heck is up with Crome recently, i've been have the same problem you have, but sometimes I get away with a bin that I make with no CEL. Datalogging seems to want to stop and not work sometimes. Might just fork over the moola and go with Ectune now. John hasn't popped out and made any changes to Crome or chime in on these bugs that are out there. But hope you figure it out.

hey guys, it's Luke, the guy trying to help brett out.

I've made tons of bin's before in crome but using previous versions.(i always keep it up to date) i haven't made any other new bins since i installed 1.4.8 but i've edited my own tune with this version. (self tuned, DD for 2 years).

My usual procedure was to remove checksum, add boost, adjust fuel and timing, install fuel tools, set the injector sizes, disable open loop. save and burn.
We tried copying the values into other bins, coping the values into a brand new bin, tried running it on a stock map, even tried copying the values overtop of my bin that's running my car right now.

Only thing i could think of testing is make a new bin for my own car(y8), burn it and see if i get a cel.

well, so far i've deleted and re-installed crome, deleted and re-installed my burn1 software, made 5 or 6 different maps, and swapped ecus with another one. nothing works. runs perfect with the ectune basemap, and every crome chip i burn throws a solid cel.

this sucks

did you pull the fuse for vtec? No really theres a fuse for the ecu under the hood, pull that bitch out for a little bit. As for solid cells... it dont like the map I think :X Really though, anytime I was tuning with crome and I did something wrong I would get a solid cell. Seemed like the car knew what she wanted. Sounds crazy I know but just ------- do it cock hound.

You say it has a solid CEL, then you say it starts up and idles then throws a CEL. You've checked for codes, right? Still a solid CEL?
