So I'm 3min 26sec in to a datalog when.....

The check engine light comes on in the Crome datalog window!
Hooray!
It was the first time I have taken the car out since the new setup. I wanted to take it around the block and do a wee bit of tuning before dark.
Here's the kicker: When I ground the proper wire on the ecu to check for codes I get a SOLID CEL....damnit! Hardware problem right?
The datalog info at the time the CEL came on:
1762rpm

119mb manifold pressure

0psi boost

0% throttle

28.25 Ignition advance

95.5 air temp

154.51 coolant temp

It gets strange here---

o2 voltage 3.8

air/fuel 3355.37

I had let off the throttle of course and was coasting in 1st gear when the CEL came on.

Upon examining the ECU all looks well. I'm going to go over some solder joints but I don't think it's the problem. Ziff socket and ostrich cable seem fine also. I suppose I'll throw in a chip after touching up the solder joints and see what happens. I guess that would help rule out an issue with the ostrich.

Please assist this confused fellow

I had two ecus with solid cels, I cleaned up the joints with a soldering iron then rubbed down all of the soldered joints with rubbing alcohol and a q tip. Both worked after that. ;)

You have o2 disabled or enabled?

Thanks guys.

o2 is disabled since the wideband is hooked up.

what code did it throw?
+1 on checking the solder points, I also had that problem.
Let me know if you cant get it working.

Re: So I'm 3min 26sec in to a datalog when.....

It was actually code 17, VSS. I have a mechanical unit. The car is an 88 lude.
I guess what I don't understand is why I'm getting the solid CEL if I try to pull the codes through grounding that ecu wire and counting CEL flashes.
Everything else seems to operate normally. From what I'm recently told the a/f ratios were normal.
I also added the p30 hack plugin thingy because I realized my rom didn't have it. The solder points are all resoldered now.
I'll do another run maybe tomorrow when I have time.
Thanks!

You don't have to ground ----, homey. Double click on the CEL "ON" box and the code(s) pop up in Crome.

FYI, solid CEL upon grounding service connector pin is what will normally happen if you have no codes in the ECU's memory.

WERD. Not running in backup mode solid, but solid meaning to set ignition timing.
