SMT-6... Who has one?
I was reading about TunerToys' post about the SMT-6. It looks very interesting and a good investment. What I want to know is how they do on Hondas. Anybody use this device?

Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
looks like an AFC w/ ignition control...thats the only way it could work with so many different cars....

Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
you can tune it by yourself Fastfurious style
it has a software for laptopbut it is very hard to tune it for the same money you could buy a Dastek Unichip. Much better i guess ;) |
Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
explain hard to tune

Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
First youll have to get to know how to read the 3D ignition and fuel map.
THe secondly for hondas it doesnt cheat the map semsor signal and youll still have the cel problem Thirdly i know at least 5 persons that has either smt6 or smt5 and they all complaining. This is just an advice. \I like apexi but i have a Unichip My friends feels better with his AEM standalone and some other buy smt6 Iam not a damm expert, all i can say is that if you have someone that knows weel how to tune the "Perfect Power device" then buy it if not then i dont think youll easily get somewhere by yourself. Dont feel offended thats just my advice ;) |

Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
So I asked the distributor about the CEL problem, and he says that the SMT-6 does feed a signal back to the ECU, so this will not be a problem.
That's a relief, you had me worried! Craig |
Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
BTW, We looked at the Unichip when we were evaluating add-on controllers, and were under the inpression that the end user (car owner) would not have the ability to retune or adjust the Unichip, once the installer had set it up.
We felt this was unacceptable for the average user on HMT, as we like to mess with our stuff, repeatedly! So Bobohc3d, are you able to retune your Unichip setup or do you have to take it somewhere and let them tune it for you? We also looked at the AEM, ZDyne, Hondata, etc, but felt that at $290 the SMT6 gave the best features for the price... Thanks from Craig |
Re:SMT-6... Who has one?
As
In said Iam not an Expert. I know smt6 was improved. and maybe youll be able to tune the outgoing map signal as to please the Ecu. I live in Poland,to reajust it. I just have to go and Dyno my civic. THis cost me about $25 for 30min THe guys knows there job soo well that they always tune the AFR and fuel map no problem after few dyno runs. As I said, you have to buy a device that you know someone will help you. If you got none to help you for egsample then buy an apexi. THe HMT family will help you all the way. BTW unichip, smt6 are piggy back :P BTW2 how much for a SMT6 anyway? |

1st, you lower voltage of MAP sensor (yes it can modify it.. imagine that), 2nd - you can set maximum output for MAP sensor to 3V, so even if you didnt lower it enough in 3D map, it still wont trigger CEL. |
