Should my burn1 appear to be working with no chip in it?

Hey guys, I just bought a xenocron chipped ecu and I threw it on the car (w/basemap) and CEL as soon as i turn ign. on. My burner seemed to be working, but then I realized it said PROM I/O SUCCEEDED any time I hit Program Chip or Read Chip, or the erase button, even when there was no chip in it!

It seems like something isn't right. I'm using the 27sf512, yes I erased beforehand, yes I know to start the chip address hex at 8000 (it isn't the buffer hex is it?)

I've tried with uber and crome (w/checksum removed for crome) and still nothing. I know it's not the ecu, and the car won't even start. I don't have stock o2 so I have o2 heater and closed loop disabled.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

One more thing, when I put the chip in the burner, I put it with the notch facing the little metal lever, with the chip in about the middle of the grid (I tried some different config's). And it went into the ecu w/the notch facing the arm on the zif (how it came from xenocron)

half moon on the chip faces lever. but put the chip furthest away from the lever. I was having the same issue you are. burned it again and it was fine ???

Thanks I'm gonna try again today, I'm gonna try to just run my ostrich if I can't get the burner to work. It's being a pain with uber though. Anybody know if the ostrich can be run directly with crome or do I need cromepro to run it?

Thanks again.

You can use the regular crome.
