setup w/ turboedit

im pretty new here and i had just read about turboEDIT a couple of days back. i was very interested into ghettodyne but never had a chance to use it. i see the possibilities of turboedit and i want to use that instead. my friend has a 90 civic hatch. he wants to turbo a D15B (JDM 1.5 SOHC VTEC). what ecu should he use? can he use turboedit with stock injectors or are the 450s needed? and because it not originally a VTEC, can he activate the vtec with turboedit? and maybe someone can post some boosted maps because i dont fully understand all the numbers on the table. and a how-to guide on how to tune maps. i would like to know what the numbers mean. more fuel? but how much is too much? or too little. i been reading on this a lot but the info is scattered everywhere. so maybe this one thread can help. thanks.

I will try to save Jason some time on this.

I think your friend will want to use a pm6 with a good boost base map. Use a vafc on top of that to activate vtec and you can also make small fuel changes with it.
The numbers in the fuel table are (I belive) pulwidths of the injectors in milliseconds. The numbers in the timing chart are associated with Top Dead center or something to do with that. Some base maps can be found on turboedit.org.

How did I do? (I feel like I'm taking a test in high school)lol :D

the ignition is degrees before top dead centre. I'm not sure as you need 450's possibly 390's would do the trick, but he cant use the stock injectors. for advice on turboedit look at www.pgmfi.org has he got a wideband o2 or are you just going to street tune it?

ok. the numbers make more sense now. but why would he need a V-AFC? that defeats the purpose of turboEDIT which is free, excluding the burner and chips. how about ditch the V-AFC, use turboEDIT and a MSD rpm switch. he has an extra one lying around. and i would like to "street tune" it, i guess. i dont know much about those wideband o2 sensor things but i thought that i could use a air/fuel ratio to tune it. get a stoichometric mixture - not sure how you spell it. i want to be able to richen all of the lean spots - make sure enough fuel is being provided. i can tune with an air/fuel ratio gauge and turboEDIT right?

Stealth was saying to use the V-AFC to control the V-tec engagement as TE doesnt support it yet but you can use an RPM switch if you want, but, i dont know how to tune for V-tec so i'll leave that for someone else to explain.

you can tune with an AF guage but not very well, it would be money well spent getting it on the rollers or buying/borrowing a wideband as these are a lot more accurate than the A/F guage for the narrowband o2
