Re: Serial Datalogging Cable.

Well, it will and it won't work...

What I mean by that is.. it won't wok "by itself". When datalogging, you don't need _just_ a serial cable, you need a TTL->RS232 convertor cable. The reason people use those "Nokia Cables" is because Nokia hardware's communication protocol is TTL, and they build a TTL->RS232 convertor into the cable (little black box attached to the cable).

So, if you attach that cable to a TTL convertor between your ECU and your computer, then yes, it will work, otherwise, alone, it will not.

Ya I know it needs to be ttl=>RS232 convertor. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this particular one.

I'm going to contact the company an find out. I'll keep you updated.

I am getting a sample from my supplier in a day or so...should mount into the ECU casing and look perty.

When I get it tested and working I will obviously be offereing it...at the same price as my serial cables as well and not more like most places :)

Awsome. Great to hear!!! I've never had any luck with datalogging. I've tried Nokia Serial cables w/USB to Serial Cable from ebay with no luck. I got free MAX232 Sample chips, build my own board by the diagrams in there iste with not luck.
I just want some thing that is gonna work no questions asked. I know it's DIY but I'm sick of trying one thing after another and having a laptop with no serial port.

I hear yah...I have a Gateway and I have all sorts of COM port issues with the serial to USB stuff from time to time.

Install, reinstall...change the COM, ---- something else up...its getting old...

I also like the cleaner look of the USB stuff too though...

Here is a teaser pic :)

Or this is REAL Clean and description sound like it would work,

But they are both expensive #1 is 34.00 and #2 is like 90.00 The are both from Europe too.

Mine will be $28 shipped...if it works.

Re: Serial Datalogging Cable.

Word id in from the company and the price is too good to be true. It is just for connecting there project board which already have a ttl-rs232 converter on it.

Xenocron? Any date pending on this thing?

Re: Serial Datalogging Cable.

I received it yesterday...I dont see it having any problem working...Im going to have to find sometime this week to see exactly the best way to mount it inside of the ecu casing...not sure how thats going to be done yet.
