Default Serial connection for ZT-2

I have been doing fine with the USB port and uberdata for dataloging. I just want to get the zietronix serial logger working.

My laptop only has a printer port for serial connections. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried a DB-9 to DB-25 or whatever the printer port is. I have seen people use USB-Serial unsuccesfully.

I think that there is a website out there about converting it by yourself, but I can't find it now.

A serial DB25 and a Parallel port are two different things I believe.

Besides, you need to open a COM port and the parallel in a LPT port.

I have COM port issues occasionally with my USB stuff, but that can all be worked out.

I got my serial to USB connection to work with the Zeitronix...

The problem with using the adapter comes when you hit enter to stop logging, it normally throws up the blue screen and causes you to restart. So, instead of pushing enter to stop logging, just pull the usb out of the back of the laptop... the logging stops without an error, then you can save, plug it back in, and do some more pulls...

I have been using this method for a few weeks and it's worked perfectly for me.

Just something to consider, it might be easier than trying to use the other port...

That does sound a lot better. Where did you get yours at?

I bought mine off eBay for $10 shipped

I didn't want to pay the $30 they charge for the same adapter...

It's the exact same adapter that zeitronix sells...

serial ------------->USB

Having problems? you probably have driver issues especially if you are using microshite XP, it took me ages to find the right one to use with mine so if anyone wants it mailing to them i'd be more than happy to do that.

I kept getting the blue screen of death, but i can now start and stop logging with the enter button, without having to pull out the usb cable

PM me with your email if you want it
