Re:safc vs vafc

they work ok for boost levels under 10 with 450's but people call them crap because turboedit and other standalone units are better and more tunable, look in q and a forum

Re:safc vs vafc

It works and will get the job done, but it's going tor equire tuning just like any other engine management setup. Your ignition is going to be needing a way to retard the timing under boost pressure. The AFC actually advances your timing slightly, so you'll need a way to compensate to prevent detonation.
Also, the VAFC will work in a non vtec vehichle, but when you run the SAFC in a Vtec equipt vehichle, you'll notice your only able to add fuel up to a certain point. I worked on dyno tuning a car one tme that was running the SAFC when he should have been using the VAFC (VTEC), and we noticed a big lean hole where the High cam fuel maps should have come into play. I didn't know this until experimenting with it because I figured you could just add whatever fuel was needed above the Vtec crossover to compensate for not having the High cam feature. Nope, doesn't work the same way.
Just thought I'd share that with you incase your looking to buy one, you'll know which one to get.
