ringlands

I was just curious about something...About a month ago I was running a t3 with 10lbs of boost and 450cc injectors w/ zdyne ecu on my crx w/ a stock b16a motor. I messed up the ring land in piston #3 and I replaced the piston and the rings for that piston. Then I drove it carefully for about 100 miles and boosted 10lbs again...this time it lasted 1 day before 3 piston ring lands were fried this time.

Could this be because of bad fuel management? or because 10lbs on stock b16, or is 2.25" exhaust too small? Not sure...

Also I am running the zdyne on my LS-vtec motor now and do not know which program I should be using for boost on an LS-vtec. There are none premade

Maybe your #3 injector is shot. Hows the plug look?

that wouldn't cause the thing to bust 3 ringlands

Nice CRX Surfer ;D.
Sorry to hear about the ringlands man...that sucks...you might be detonating...running to lean or to much advanced timing.

Ringlands = Detenation.

With, B16 compression sitting around 10.2:1... 10psi @ 8200 rpms leaves very little room for error. ::)

Zdyne, eh? How experienced are you with it? You're sure it was a boosted tuned and not just an NA tune scaled for 450cc injectors?

Post links to your exported fuel and timing tables, and I'll have a look see at them.

IMHO stock B16's dont like more than 15-16' timing @10psi.
At 10.2:1 your fueling must be pretty spot on. Atleast under 13:1 a/f

Im 9.7:1 right now (US ITR pistons), and ping free at 13psi. Thats with 12.0:1 A/F and 14deg timing on the topend.
I have bumped it to 15psi with the same timing and A/F and it pings no matter what. There is a limit on pump gas, at least for me on a T3 60/63.

<---Has been through two rounds of 'ringlands'

Send one of us your .zdy file so we can take a look.

If you want to look at my zdyne file, just open the one that comes w/ the program called B16FI.ZDY that's what I was running. I never heard detonation in my life on any of the 3 cars I have turbocharged. One time in mid boost my exhaust popped and the car hesitated, but that was awhile back. I'm pretty sure all my injectors are good because Im using them on my new setup and they work fine.

Also on my new setup my A/f guage reads lean in boost, but there are no signs of detonation, and it runs fine, it's quick too. Second gear it doesn't seem to want to go past
7k rpms though even though it will zoom to 8k in 1st gear.

Where's JEFF w/ those LS VTEC tunes??? I'm running the b16 program now and I may need more fuel
