pulling cel code after ecu conversion

I haven't received a reply about my other question

but I went ahead and connected everything just to see what would happen. I am getting a cel (mil if you wanna be picky :P ) but I'm not sure what it is.

I was getting code 13 before because of the hack, and it might be the same issue, but I can't tell because I can't get the code. I've tried jumpering the service connector, but the light still doesn't blink to tell me anything. Should this way of getting codes still work after the ecu conversion?

I am using a P28 auto ECU with a self-built harness. The car does start, and seems to rev all the way to redline. I'm probably also getting an error because the car is a manual (auto ecu) and another because the o2 isn't hooked up cause there is no manifold installed to put it in (Ever run your car with NO exhaust? LOUD!). So if those are the only three problems found (baro press, o2, auto trans) I am fine. How do I find out after doing the ecu swap?

I suppose it is possible I'm just not hitting the connector right, I've had problems getting my paperclip in there in the past, and I'll try that again with a different one in awhile if it should be working.

Re:pulling cel code after ecu conversion - Got it!

I hate that service connector - very picky about how you jumper it. I tried again today and finally was able to get the codes. 41 and 19, as expected - nothing else. I won't be able to do more testing (driving) until I get the BMC manifold I'm still waiting for and my "chipping kit", but so far it looks like my ecu and harness are ok. Now if ONYX would just send me some chips n stuff. :(

I'm still curious about whether or not the VTM and VTS wires should be connected in the harness, but if it doesn't give me any trouble with VTEC, I'm not gonna worry about it! :)

So how do you jumper it?

I use a big paper clip. You just gotta put it in the correct holes and shove it in hard. It is a pain due to the shortness of the wires and difficulty of reaching and holding onto the connector in that confined space in the kickpanel. I'm sure honda has some kind of plug they just clip onto it nice and easy.
