ok i have a b16a1 with a pw0 ecu am i right in thinking in order to use vtec and boost i have to change to a ps9 ecu and all will be ok once mapped to use with te

Re:ps9/pw0
are you asking us for confirmation or are you stating that this is the case...?
|
Re:ps9/pw0
what car has the ps9??? never see this ecu!
where is the difference to a pw0? what is the advantage for boosting? Thanks Malte. |
Re:ps9/pw0
this ecu comes in the 1990-91 "US" civic ex automatic. or you can call it an automatic pm6.the advantages are its T.E. compatible and has the extra 12v output to drive the vtec solinoid which the pm6 does not.pwo/pr3 are not T.E. compatible for boost.

Re:ps9/pw0
ps9 is a 90-91 civic 4dr auto ;)

---- you must have beat me buy 2 seconds :D

Re:ps9/pw0
Can you use the PM4 from the 90-93 tegs with an automatic ? The PS9s are hard to find.
|
Re:ps9/pw0
I haven't heard of that ECU..
Give it a try, and let us know. |
Re:ps9/pw0
Sorry I don't know what the numbers are for the ECU in the 90-93 teg with an automatic tranny. I know the 5 speed motors have a PR4, but will the ones from the automatic cars work the same as the PS9. Like I said the PS9s are hard to find.

Re:ps9/pw0
Well, if it's a USDM 90-91 Integra (92+ is OBD1) Automatic, it would still be a PR4.. manual or automatic.
There are a few bits of hardware to remove to make it manual, I think Chris would know more on that. ..but, no, from what I am aware of, the USDM auto PR4 (OBD0) will not work "as a" PS9 would. |
Re:ps9/pw0
so a ps9 is the way to go then.
only problem is what motors use them over in the u.k. i`m not expecting you guys over the pond to know but if you did that would be f.kin great |
Re:ps9/pw0
any 88-91 auto d-series MPFI should work no?
|
Re:ps9/pw0
Well, see, 88-89 ECUs are limited. The only one I can think of is PG7.. which doesn't have external EEPROM.
PS9 wasn't introduced until 90-91.. as well as PR4. |
Re:ps9/pw0
try a Civic Concerto with MPFI and automatic. it would have a D16 engine in it.

The Auto PR4 will not work like the PS9 though...or I am sure PGMFI would be working on that...and they aren't. |
Re:ps9/pw0
I'll ask XDEep to chime in and see what he has to say on it..
|
Re:ps9/pw0
it'll work but i havent been able to get rid of code 12: EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve and don't know which, if any, pin will get rid of it. snip pin 28 to get rid of code 19: Automatic transmission lockup control valve
- otherwise when you tap on the brake it stalls the motor. also be aware that the 90 pr4 has an external PA sensor, while the 91 has it internally. you can run a 91 in a 90 but a 90 in a 91 probably will throw code 13: BARO - atmospheric pressure sensor. |
Re:ps9/pw0
Can that be corrected with code? ..say PM7 based code?
|
Re:ps9/pw0
what code? i doubt it. someone would have to locate it explicitly.
|
Re:ps9/pw0
PM7 has external PA, and is very similar to PM6.. and we've been using it as an alternative on PR4s..
..but, I've personally never tested this, as I don't own an Integra. .....so, someone with a PR4 _and_ an Integra, should test it. |
Re:ps9/pw0
fill me in and ill try it
