i managed to get a VAFC for my honda civic but for some reason im gettin the CEL code is : Hi Baro/MAP voltage read. the car is turbo and i have no idea if i am getting this problem because i have the Map sensor with check valves (wich should not let the map read boost) or for another reason. Any response or ideas is greatly apretiated

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Use a a big brake booster check valve and one of those universal vaccum tees from NAPA. Problem solved.

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Or how bout you don't use any check valve, because they won't work with the VAFC?
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
He's probably running the stoc MAP sensor with with big injectors trimmed WAY down. Otherwise why would he have check valves at all?
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
check valves so Map dont register boost

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
What size are your stock injectors?
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
stock injectors are 240cc and the ones i am using are 315cc

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Do you understand that you shouldn't be using check valves with your vafc?
Read the engine management faq. |
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
no i did not know that cause from what i had understand you do not use the check valves if you wire up the MAP to the TPS cable on the apex i from what i had read in the tovt forums :X

i had already read the FAQ but thank you anyway.... did not help me out to much as to the post i wrote bere here is where i got the idea from :
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=137901&page=1 but yet again you do use check valves on the Apexi i wired it directly with no checkvalves like it said there he did and i still got my CEL for Hi voltage map/baro sensor. |

Hey be polite.. Say caca.. You dumb piece of caca.
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Hey bro, you are not supposed to use the check valves with the AFC......Take them out, check your wiring and go from there.

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
I've got an AFC with a 2 bar map sensor. The stock injecotrs were 155's and Im using 315s not. Fine to 10 psi anyways, at least on my car (1992 Tercel).
Ta Da, plug in 2 bar map for Toyota http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...5_117_full.jpg |

Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Nah, thats about the worst of it. The vacuum tees I had were a little too small so I put them on there just to make sure they wouldnt come off. Seems ot be working, but I should probably just get some new vcuum tees.
However, the rad is secured with zip ties too. |
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
ok so to fix the problem should he just remove that check valve wire or buy at 3 bar map sensor?
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Remove the check valve completely. There is no check valve wire, and you don't need any other map sensor than stock if you are running less than about 14 psi.
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
ok cool thanks
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
yea ditch the check valves, and check your map wiring from the ecu to the afc, you prolly have the in and out switched, or you spliced the wrong pin out wire ;) your welcome
|
Re: problems with VAFC (noob on the Apexi system)
Also make sure you have the sensor in/out set to 6/6 for a stock honda map sensor. A higher number for these settings is for a higher reading map sensor, so if they're not set to 6in/6out you will throw that code.
