Problems Datalogging with Uberdata.

I'm trying to Datalog with uberdata but with not much success.

It connects sort of when I plug the cable into my usb port com 4 becomes available in uberdata I set my com ports correctly but I get garbled data. I'll click the rpm box and it will flash the right rpm one time then it flashes back and forth from like say 1556 to 51 and just keeps doing it

I'm using the nokia usb to serial cable I'm using the prolific driver could that be the problem? do I just have the wrong driver?

I have it setup like this sheild conductor and the brown wire soldered into pin 1 of cn2 Orange goes to pin 2 for rx
and the red wire goes to pin 4 for tx.

I have my com port settings at
38400
8bit
1
none
1
advanced I just unclick the box.

I used the hyperterminal to confirm I had rx and tx. When I type it echo's back and I see it on the screen.

I know uberdata is bugy and is real picky about the order of how you open thing and stuff so I did things in differant orders. One time I was able to get rpm to logg somewhat ok. But I clicked another box and it went crazy again.

Thanks for any advice. If I had $150 I'd buy crome pro. But at the moment I'm practcally broke and all I need to finish my turbo is arp head studs a head gasket and a trip to napa for some oil water and vacuum lines and it's time to install. :6

Install the jumper J12 back in. You are seeing an echo. Uberdata's DLing works on half-duplex mode.

Re: Problems Datalogging with Uberdata.

Actually I tried that already. Well at first I tried it with j12 in it didn't work so just trying differant things I cut it. But that didn't help and Ive read before that uber needs j12 because it can't handle full duplex..So any way I soldered it back in.

I dunno I'll give it a good look maybe one side is a cold joint or something.

From my experience with UD, J12 has to be a 0 ohm jumper not the resister that comes in the ECU.

Maybe I screwed up agin then. When I put j12 back I just used a 10k 0hm resistor. I'll just jump it with a leg from another resistor and see what happens.

The stock part in the ecu IS A JUMPER not a resistor. The term JUMPER means zero ohms. The stock part LOOKS like resistor, but has a single black stripe that denotes ZERO ohms.

10K resistor won't work. The piece of wire will work fine.

Only made that comment because the P75 and P61 that I chipped both had what looked like a resistor in J12's spot, versus what you usually see as a jumper in a piece of electronics.

Like I stated earlier:

He's right to!.. I took ou the resistor and just jumpered it with a pice of the resistor leg and it works great now. Thanks guys!

glad to hear that that :y
