PR4 vs PM6 Fuel Multiplier Theory..

Question, I've written my own PM6 editor, and have PR4 support as well (since a few of my friends have LS swaps).

My question, Joseph, is if I'm wanting to run PR4 maps (yes, I know that the PR4 has 3 fuel and 2 ignition, I would just use the first of each), in a PM6 ROM do you suggest changing the PM6's fuel multipliers to that of the PR4, or just typing in the PR4 pulse durations into my editor during a regular edit of the PM6 fuel table, and letting the PM6 multipliers calculate duration?

Though I may be wrong, (and if I am could you please explain why) but I think that entering the values is strictly entering the values. As long as you're typing in or copying and pasing durations, instead of importing straight hex values from the PR4 into the new PM6, the pulse durations will remain correct, even if the multipliers are different.

*poof*

Cut and paste the PR4 maps with multipliers into the PM6 code.

Getting an editor that will work with it is odd... open one of those .bins up in GhD and see how the fuel scales went and fucked themselves. As long as you are fine not knowing what your fuel pulse is, and just know you need to go richer/leaner in a certain cell, GhD will work for you to tune it. When you start getting overflow errors and GhD closes itself, is when you've maxed out a fuel multiplier + then have to go back by hand in a hex editor and recalc your values with a higher multiplier so that they are the same final value, but give you a higher range of adjustability.

I had to do just this with a GhD 2.2 boost bin for a wacked out LS turbo Blundar was tuning, so I could give him a baseline. You couldn't open the bin in GhD anymore, I think they fine tuned with AFC.

All this was probably a waste of typing... get PR4 maps, with fuel multipliers, stuck into stock PM6 code and use Carsten's OBD0Edit. I do believe it is set to read the fuel multiplier values instead of ASSuming them. If you need a boosted bin, you then have to import the maps back to GhD 2.2 bin and manually set the checksum.

All in all, a PITA.

Bah, Joseph, I've written my own editor. I have full PR4 and PM6 support. :-)

Check it out.. I know it's webbased, and lame that way for some people, but, for me, it works great!

Anyway..

http://www.drfitkids.com Click on "TurboEDIT" from nav menu.
-------------------
As far as doing it, it seems like what you're saying is if I were to make this ROM for my friend, I should use the PR4 fuel table *AND* PR4 mutlipliers on the PM6 code.

Which is fine, I'll.. I've written a debug hex editor in PHP also. It's cute. :)
Anyway.. Thanks for the help.

(Oh, BTW, I have an idea on the OBD0 Boost code fix. I want to test my some code before I make a fool of myself on PGMFI HA!)

Uh, even if you're too retarded to type the link to your site www.driftkids.com correctly, TurboEDIT is badass.

I guinnea pig as much OBD0 code as Dave, George, and Mike can get my lazy ass to. Feel free to toss any snippets my way.

FWIW, I don't think any serious attempts are regarded with mockery on PGMFI.

Damn tpyos. >:(

I'll try get it coded and toss it your way.

Re:PR4 vs PM6 Fuel Multiplier Theory..

Dave's tasklist for PGMFI crap:
1. Engine sim - finish hardware, get A1k0n to help finish PIC code if need be.
2. Redesign of site to make it more portal-like, reorganizing FAQ, better beginner section and trying to make everything user-updatable.
3. OBD0 Boost code - the Georgehack sucks ass. Something better is needed.
4. OBD0 realtime updates #1 - Doc's method of 8XXX addr line + NVSRAM
5. OBD0 realtime updates #2 - Dave's original idea of using on chip EEPROM/flash in ATMEL T89C51RD2 (or similar) to store tables and updating in more or less real time.

So, you have about 2 items to learn enough assembly to write your own boost code or you'll be testing my broke ass code :)
peace

I might add it only took me 13 revisions to have working 1 wier vtec code for PM6 :)

If I keep forgetting my code journal at work, I'll never get this thing started! Hahah.
