Poor AFR

Finally got my car running smooth again. Got it back from the tuner, it was weird I guess the afc reset to a MAF sensor and the numbers didnt go to zero but they werent correct. They did a few checks, compression is 180 psi straight accross. Then they retuned. I still want a better afr though its right around 10-11 when on the dyno it made 160hp and 180 ft/lb tq. My btm is bullshit and does nothing dont know why the ---- people told me to install it. I want to up the psi in the future but are considering to go to an EMS instead of a hack. In the mean time I want to try and get a better afr with a hack and maybe alittle more boost.

these are the settings for my s-afc2

Re: Poor AFR

why are all your "high" settings lower than the low settings? and why are they going more negative as the rpms go up? maybe im missing something

Re: Poor AFR

blah maybe its fine, I just saw -50% with 450s and it seemed "off" to me. Maybe you have bigger injectors than you thought? What i said about questioning the high #'s being more negative than the low #'s might not be right either, since youre in a different part of the map there so maybe it needed less fuel taken out. blah, no more posting without fully thinking things out.

As far as getting a better afr, I dont think you can go any further negative to take more fuel out. Do you have your fuel pressure bumped up at all?

Re: Poor AFR

I do not know much about the settings, but I do know how much better your car will run if you chip your ecu. I have pulled more VAFCs off cars than have been sold on ebay. The sooner you switch to your chipped ecu the better off you will be. You could probably sell your Vafc and get enough money to buy the parts to tune your own car.

If you do decide to tune your self hit me up with any questions and I will help where I can.

Re: Poor AFR

Im alittle confused with ecu swapping. Can someone confirm and/or add suggestions to this list to go from y7 to y8.

What I need:
Y8 Intake Manifold with y8 throttle body with goodies. 3 wire to 2 wire IACV conversion, jumper harness, p28 ecu, and crome with a good tune. :6
Anything else?

My car is also starting to idle shitty, it drops below 500rpm and wants to stall but never does. I am seriously considering going to an OBD1 setup. PLEASE HELP. I need honest and factual input. Thanks.

Re: Poor AFR

Wait since im keeping my y7 head I will need a non-vtak ecu. p28 is a vtak ecu, should I get a p06 ecu? :6

you can get either and just disable vtakk

Re: Poor AFR

What is your AFR at idle? How about under full boost? Anything under 32% throttle will use the low throttle settings to adjust your AFR anything above 70% will use your high throttle settings. Anywhere in between 32% and 70% will calculate the difference between the throttle settings at the percentage of throttle you are at. You want to be at or near 14.7 at idle. It will fluctuate as the ecu will try to compensate for it to be at 14.7. At full boost you want to be around 10.5 to 11.0 this for a conservative tune. I hope this helps.

Re: Poor AFR

Im waiting on an ecu from xenocron. I dont have a wideband so I dnt know my exact afr.

Re: Poor AFR

I would suggest saving up to get a wideband as they are a must have. I am willing to bet you are running extremely lean under boost as I was running around -28 to -30 tunning Pte 780cc injectors before I went with a chipped ecu. But I also have a AWD DSM.

Re: Poor AFR

I was actually running rich. I dont personally have a wideband but when it was on the dyno it was a straight 11.0 :6

Re: Poor AFR

Under boost you are shooting for 11:1 as a conservative/safe tune. So your are pretty much where you should be under boost.
