Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
Alright, i've been on the pgm-fi-crx site and it seeme like there is something available for obd1 car now. Can someone please, clarify the situation for me... is it only dataloggin or can I burn rom and use some sorta Hondata ghetto with obd1 ?
Thanks |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
There are a couple of free ROM editors in the works for OBD1, but nothing just yet. If you want to make custom programs immediately you'll have to use Excel ------sheets and a hex editor like the rest of us. It looks like a couple weeks is all that's needed to have some pretty good free OBD1 program editors out.
The stock ROMs with datalogging enabled are already available if you want to go ahead and get comfortable with burning chips and datalogging. |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
Joseph... what kind of USB adaptor do I need in order to connect it to my cn2 port?
Thanks |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
how do you tune it? do u get live feed back from the engine? usually i tune stuff on a dyno for my rx-7 and check the wide band o2 sensor, to see if im lean or rich, but with ghetto dyne it seems like i can't do real time, just think what i need and then burn it into a chip and see if it works. if anyone got more info i would like to know too.

Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
I got a question about this ghettodyne stuff too, where do you guys get these rom burners and blank roms? Also how much are you guys paying for these things? I've found some rom burners but they're going for something like 300. I'm basically looking for the cheapest way to go.
Also I came across another free gig similar to ghettodyne, but I don't remember what it was. Could you guys post the free programs for this that you know of? Thanks. |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
In my 90 crx si (PM6) I put in a ZIF socket can get from here: www.digikey.com part # A347-ND
the chips... http://store.yahoo.com/americanmicro...c256-25dc.html Burner (what hondata uses) http://www.xtronics.com/memory/EPROM.htm Once ghettodyne is finished you will be set. I've currently got a georgehackpm6.bin file that is suppose to allow me to run 450cc injectors and basically be my fuel management for my REX. It's for only in the mean time until ghettodyne is complete and ready. For ignition I was using a MSD BTM to retard my timing.... it was just temp purposes so I could at least run my car... works great. but..... I don't have my burner yet, so I can't burn that binary file so I have no fuel management yet. |

Check the ECU Control site above - it's free datalogging software for Honda ECUs and you should be able to use it's recordings to figure out what/where needs adjustment, even if it doesn't support WB)2 datalogging. For much less than the price of a Pocket ----- you can get the Batronix Eprommer 3.x kit which is very easy to use, and does not break. 75% of the PGMFI Forum people use them. Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
not all obd1 peeps use excell and hex editors :p
Some obd1 guys have REAL boost code, some some low-resolution digita hack :p |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
the 91PM6GeorgeHack.BIN file will work with 450cc injectors correct? I didn't know there was retard code in that file.. I thought it was fuel only.

I've got a hex editor, but I have no idea what people are talking about when they use Excel ------sheets. |

Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
George's MAP cut is a bit leaner than the "usual" AFC settings, so you'll have to tweak the maps a bit to run really well with 450's, but I wouldn't hesitate to run the car NA like that while I got a feel for tuning via Ghettodyne.
MR_DR_PEP, you're in New Bern... you need to cruise up to Asheville on April 19th for the carolinahondas.com meet... on the 20th we crash Deals Gap - there will be a bunch of S2000 and MR2's there that day. If the weather is bad, the Asheville meet is still on, but Deals Gap is off. You'll get to meet some pretty cool and smart people with some really trick rides, you'll also get to meet a lot of ricers, but they are the good ricers who mean no harm. I'll show you my clusterfucked work space piled high with broken electronics crap, my 27 ECUs, chip burner, and give you a hands on demo of any number of things. I'll lay a burned CD in your hands filled with all the goodies I normally use neatly laid out in categorized directories with a small text file in each to give you a primer on what each does. None of this is that hard, it's just it's a lot of new stuff to choke down all at once. You just need someone to show you the ropes just like somebody helped you get into automechanics at one point. UberTeg is a little cranky because he's afraid to come out of the closet, don't pay him any attention. |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
is there anyway to change the vtec points then? like if you are using a P28???
or is there anyway to add vtec to pm6, like if you are running a d16z6 in a crx. Thanks PauL |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
actually on the pgmfi site they are working
on hacking the hf ecu... to use the shift light activation point as a vtec crossover. much like zdyne does... there is no way to add vtec to a pm6 yet but hopefully in a few months, you will be able to soder on a few parts, and put in a new rom, and there you go... im not exactly sure how far the obd1 team is coming along, as i seldom look in on them because im obd0 for life... (exception = honda insight for a family car.) |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
So this will do the trick, "Batronix EEprom Programmer 3.3:"
Will it work with for ghettodyne? I'm really not too familiar with this? How does it work, do i create a bin file in Ghettodyne, which assigns all the values to the hex location, then just open the bin file in the Chip writer software and burn it? http://www.batronix.com/electronic/e-shop.shtml |
Re:Please TEACH me ghettodyne + ecucontrol
Smokey, you got it. The Batronix software is just a burner app, like Nero/CDRWin/Fireburner/Roxio/etc used for burning CDs.
I guess if they have me pimping in this place, I should do a write-up on Ghettodyne and Batronix's Prog-Studio, complete with screenshots. It really is pretty simple, it's a lot harder to desolder the chip in your ECU. atomik, most of the OBD1 Civic/Integra stuff can be tweaked - they use three different motherboard platforms (four if you count the wierd 1560 VX board) all of which can be upgraded on the hardware level to and from manual, auto, VTEC, knock, etc. Only IABs are supported by the P72/75. Most of the code can be tweaked for VTEC, revlimit, fuel/spark, but up until recently you did it all in a hex editor... Uberego (RIP) came up with a nifty program to do the editing for you, and released the naturally aspirated version to the general public. |
