I had the same problem and I just resoldered some joints on the main relay.
Check this website out, explains the problem, exactly what's happening to you, and how to fix it with pictures.

If its only 2HP extra how come all of the racers in IDRC use the same type of exhaust...well front wheel drive that is.

I think if no exhaust were a problem, then all of the serious 11 and 10 second cars would have full Greddy exhaust with cat.
