Pinging wit 16 degre timing and 11.5 A/F. Why???
I have 1.5 euro civic. I am runing around 10-13 psi and the A/F is around 11.5-12.4. The timing in the 9 and 11psi columns is 16-18degres. How the hell do I get pinging on 5500 to 7000rpm? My rmp nedel is jumping like crazy when it starts to ping.
But I do not understand why it pings on so conservative map. It is cold out here and I am using 95octane gasoline instead of 100. 95 is prety shity and it is not real 95 octane. Is it posible that the fuel is the problem?

Damn wish i could have some "shitty" 95 octane. All i can afford is 89. It doesnt sound like gas though, conservatÃ-ve tune and decent gas. Check to make sure you arent leaning out anyways. Or checl

You have to understand that euro and USA fuel is not the same. Your 89 is probably stornger than mine 95. 95 is the cheaper fuel. Super 100 is beter. I measured the A/F with LM1 and not even once did it crosed the 12.5 range.
I can not belive it. It pings from 5500 to redline. It must be the shity fuel.

There is an easy way to tell if it is actually detonation, keep removing timing. If you remove timing and the issue goes away, there is a good chance you are pinging due to the gasoline's octane rating. If you remove timing and the issue does not go away, you might be experiencing misfire or something of the like.

pining will not make your tachometer jump, a bad ignitor or wiring will. Check you dizzy make sure the shaft/bearings arn't loose. Mine was a missing lock washer on the primary coil wiring and the screw was bottemed out but not tight on the terminal.

I droped my timing way dovn to 15degres and still pings. I checked the plugs and they were gaped to 1.2mm so i get them to 0.9mm. I checked the A/F with LM1 from the end of the tailpipe and it never pased 12. 2 days ago I disasembeld the distributor to get the - from the ignition coil for rpm loging via LMA3. I know i got ewery thing back because car pulls hard way up to 5000rpm and 0.5 bar. Past 5000rpm preshure rises to 0.6, 0.7 and past 6000rpm it is in the 0.9bar range. The pinging starts past 5000rpm when preshure starts to rise. A/F is rich in all conditions.
