Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
has anyone looked into this contraption for use on a boosted mkI using NA electronics? http://www.tuningtechnology.com/productsperfectp.html more detailed info is here http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp it looks like a damn nice product but then again i'm very limited in my tunning experties i assume like the SAFC and such it would allow you to run larger injectors and such?... i love the fact that it also controls ignition, something i haven't see on other piggy backs what do you guys see as the major limiting factors here (other then you still have to use the crappy AFM :( just looking for imput heres some good info about it... The SMT6i has the following options available: -Fuel/Ignition tuning. -Additional injector driver (can run upto 4 high impedance injectors, not recommended to run low impedance) tuneable independantly of the fuel/ignition maps. -Dual map selectable (has a wire that when grounded switches between the dual onboard maps, each map can be tuned independantly). -RPM/TPS/TEMP/LOAD activated switch (can be used to run Vtec, NOS, shift light, etc.). -O2 sensor monitoring/tuning capabilites. -Laptop programable. -Datalogging. the $350ish kit will have everyting needed to get the car setup and running (aside from a laptop) a nice thing about this is you can use DOS for tunning, not a fan of DOS myself but it's always an option... when i can pick up a crap laptop for $50 or less that MIGHT run win 95... it will def run dos though :) thanks mark |

Re:Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
A friend of mine is running a boosted Swift GTI with the SMT-5 the older version...almost similar.
It's inbetween a piggy back and a full stand alone if you look at it. It has the simple piggy back plug and play feature and a lot of tuning capabilities like a down scaled version stand alone. It is worth it's money for sure, but you need it hooked up to a laptop or pc to tune it. |
Re: Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system

Re: Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
We actually looked at the SMT6 is a product we wanted to add to our product line. It has the most advertised bang for the buck of any unit we looked at. It will do fuel and ignition and can be edited live...
The reason we did not add the unit, is because it was such a PITA to deal with their US distributor. Took them forever to give us pricing and buy-in information for the units, and then we had to almost beg them for it. I tried to go around them to the Canadian distributor, but had no luck. I decided it wasn't worth it, and gave up on them. Craig |
Re: Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
www.rallitek.com has them.
I am using one now, and am still "tuning" it. Basically I am using it to add fuel and pull timing at high load/rpms. Seems to work, but only had it installed for a few days now. Dynoing on Saterday. |
Re: Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
I'm going to use one, it's in the mail right now ;)
I got mine through a friend to was one of the guinea pigs for Sea2SkyTuning.com Those guys are really awesome, have really good customer service. I'm getting the unit, datalogging cable, software and the conversion harness, so I can bypass the SMT6 whenever needed. I'm definately going to do a fully write up on the unit, seeing as how there's some information, but not enough when people are deciding to go with the unit. I think it's the best bang for you buck... besides MS obviously. |
Re: Perfect Power SMT-6 piggy back system
