i agree with these guys if u dont know what that is used for then u shouldnt even have opened your ecu.hum?thats nice they way they used a small dip for that chip in case u need to change it with a new one.

I do this on every ecu I chip, you know you wont have problems getting the chip to hot when soldering it in. I got a whole pile of those 20 pin sockets for dirt cheap on ebay and it makes me feel better.

guess it kinda makes sence, just never had a problem with them getting hot before while chipping or had one go bad and have to change it.

people do that all the time. have no clue what they are looking for but just want to open it up to see what was done even though they had no clue what it looked like before it was chipped :1. i think its great when you chip an ecu and get a call saying that it isn't chipped because it doesn't look like anything has been touched .
i did one a few weeks ago and didn't put a chip in it yet because the guy is a friend of mine and i was gonna be burning him a map once he put his turbo on and i figured there really wasn't a point to burn a map for a p28 when i could just leave J1 not jumped since it was a p28 ecu and just read the stock rom. he opened it and called asking why there wasn't a chip in it so i had to try and explain a few times.

---- back in the day, places would solder the chip in there. I've seen so many ecu's done that way. Mostly from so called tuner shops that have a tamper sticker over the case.

I have never seen an actual "tuned" BIN. All are simply spoon, mugen, J's, etc. All crap.
