i agree with these guys if u dont know what that is used for then u shouldnt even have opened your ecu.hum?thats nice they way they used a small dip for that chip in case u need to change it with a new one.

I do this on every ecu I chip, you know you wont have problems getting the chip to hot when soldering it in. I got a whole pile of those 20 pin sockets for dirt cheap on ebay and it makes me feel better.

.i did one a few weeks ago and didn't put a chip in it yet because the guy is a friend of mine and i was gonna be burning him a map once he put his turbo on and i figured there really wasn't a point to burn a map for a p28 when i could just leave J1 not jumped since it was a p28 ecu and just read the stock rom. he opened it and called asking why there wasn't a chip in it so i had to try and explain a few times.

---- back in the day, places would solder the chip in there. I've seen so many ecu's done that way. Mostly from so called tuner shops that have a tamper sticker over the case.
I have never seen an actual "tuned" BIN. All are simply spoon, mugen, J's, etc. All crap.
