Default p05 chipping troubles

Hey guys i bought myself an obd1 p05 ecu but it doesn't seem to be cooperating. When i first got the ecu i plugged it into my 91 honda accord and it started up the car fine. The idle was really low and the engine would die if it wasn't given gas but there was no CEL present. So at that point i figured it was in good working order. I chipped it and its acting up pretty bad now. The idle is alot more stable but jumps a little from 700-800rpm and there is a solid CEL. It rev limits at 3.5K rpm but is still daily driveable. I pulled out the eprom and nothing changed, i cut the jumper on J1 and still nothing changed, i tried getting the ecu to show me which code it was throwing but it just shows a solid CEL. I'm all out of ideas on what to trouble shoot because even if some of the chipping parts aren't soldered in perfectly cutting J1 should bypass any of the chipping parts right? Please help if u can...AIM playatastik

solid CEL is the ECU...

Try reading the chip and see if it's OK...

Well, it is in limp mode (rev limit 3.5K) because it can't read the chip for some reason but if you cut J1 it should break the connection. And in that case the ECU is screwed up. Good Luck.

rework your solder connections and try to stay away from cold joints.

if the ball of solder forms on the tip of the iron and then is transfured to the lead it will not sufficently connect to the solder pad. remember to heat the pad and the lead all at once with hte iron and then solder the joint, notthe iron.

fixed it, redid all the solder spots, added in a npn transistor (although i don't think it did the one wire - 4 wire conversion correctly) and made sure i was running a p06 map...sure enough she works now! Thanx guys. But can anyone enlighten me more on the 02 heater conversion because pgmfi.org is so vague that i can't tell whats going on.

So you're now running your accord with a stock p06 map? How does it run with that map? I'll be changing my accord to obd1 in about a week and I haven't been able to find any non-vtec accord base maps.

btw---My accord is a 96 LX.

I've been altering various maps that i have but a modified stock p06 is somewhat working out the best atleast for idle that is but if i'm not pressing the gas then the car will most likely die. Theres a couple of us guys trying to get a basemap going. Its rather difficult but we'll keep trying and eventually come up with something
