Opinions needed on Si ecu
Im trying to do a b16a swap on an extremely tight budget. So my question is I read at hybridgarage that you could have your si ecu reprogrammed for a higher rev limit and use an external rpm switch to activate vtec. now that sounds to be the cheapest method. Ive found motor, clutch, trans for 700 and thats it. so what do you guys think.

Re:Opinions needed on Si ecu
You are probably better off asking this in the engine managment forum, but if you're si ECU has an external rom you could reprogram it although i'm not sure that the higher rev limit would have the support of the correct fueling and ignition timing though, best off askin someone who's swapped in a b

Definatly check into breaking into that ECU box and chipping it for a Ghettodyne sys for your managment.
As I recall...make sure the B16 is an obd0 (b16A) or your ecu will say poop on you. I think you also may need to move some wires around, not sure which... As for the vtec you can use an RPM based switch avalible from MSD and use their rpm pills to activate the VTEC |

see if you can chip your ECU and then use turboedit for your managment As I recall...make sure the B16 is an obd0 (b16A) or your ecu will say poop on you. if your ECU is obd0 it would be easier to use an obd0 engine but you can also revert from the later models I think you also may need to move some wires around, not sure which... when changing the obd series you will need to move wires about or purchase a harness As for the vtec you can use an RPM based switch avalible from MSD and use their rpm pills to activate the VTEC or you could test the 1 wire vtec code for blundar over on pgmfi |
