open loop

Was just wondering.. what triggers open loop mode? TPS position? MAP reading? At what percentage?

TPS at +~80% -> Closed to Open loop.

You shure it's only triggered by TPS?
I ask because when on freeways, I usually drive ~100-110mph, and that's now with like 1/3 throttle... so wondering if staying in closed loop will cause me to run more stoich A/F ratio -> coudl that damage engine?

Well, it's all about air (pressure) vs fuel, not speed when determining A/F ratio and being "safe".

I can drive about 110 (entirely too fast mind you :P ) and still maintain 10inHg at 12% throttle.. Which is still closed loop. All the while having a bouncing A/F (indicating ECU correction, I.E. closed loop). So you should be safe.

OBD0 is based on TPS. I don't have much experience with OBD1 or 2. They could factor in engine load, I guess. I do know, however, that TPS is a main, if not the, deciding factor.

So its 80% throttle that it goes into open loop? Damn I coulda swore I heard 50%. ::)

Well, I havent really driven on freeways since went turbo, but from what I've tested... it seems like I'll be in boost, like 2-3psi at 110mph in 5th gear, with ~1/3 throttle - before it was like 90% throttle for same speed :)
Mind that... I usually cruise at 100mph.. so 110 aint that fast :D .. as some might wonder what about cops? Well... mostly they use laser guns to read speed.. and that's where laser jammer does it's magic.. even when pulled over, I never ever paid more than 30US$ (well, our currency converted to US$), as I was always able to bribe 'em.. at least there is something good living here :)
