I was trying to use the excel basemap helper.. but when i go to type in the new headings some of the columns turn to 0.00s.. any idea why?

this is difficult because im just trying to convert the stock pm6 to a stable ng rom and i cant

Cause I setup the formulas in the columns for a very narrow range...and right now you shouldnt really need to change them for the PGMFI code...

Play with the IF() statements in the code to expand the range.

I HOPE to make a plugin someday for TE...

well im just trying to convert my base maps to the stable ng rom.. im not sure i understand the formulas in the code so i may be dead in the water with turboedit

good stuff. i think i can pull this off now. sounds like fun.i had been toying around with the idea of using TE for a long time. but now it is a must. lol if u would do the above that would be too cool. big thumbs up for TE and anybody involved in it.

what, exactly, is the differnce between them? how is step more risky?

Step isnt necessarily risky...it's just a little riskier than a linear retard.

As Blundar recommends, step is a little more natural. We dont retard any timing until 3 psi...then generall .25 degrees every 3 psi. (6-9psi .5 retard) (9+psi .75 or 1)

Linear resembles more what the MSD BTM timing retard devices do.

i can make basemaps the 'easy way' no problem, but along with a few others, i'm not sure i understand the excel basemap helper? are you saying we really don't need to change toe column heading for the current codes, it's just an available option for a future code that may have different headings so basically you can just copy and paste the stock map in to the excel sheet, then copy the new map it gives you in to the stable bin and you're good to go?? but you only paste in the vacuum maps, so you would actually only paste in over to column '0' in the stable rom? i may be looking too deep in to it, but it's confusing me.
